I keep on thinking of others there are so many Nuno Mindelis brilliant brazilian blues guitarist who has recorded with double trouble.

He's a bit more along the lines of Eric Johnson with his scales. He wasn't playing live on those first two clips...probably trying to save tape on the video shoot.

If for some reason you don't know these guys well I'd recommend

Steve Gaines (Skynyrd...."one more from the road" and "street survivors" albums).

John Hall  (former Orleans frontman) His debut album from 1977 is terrific if you can find it. Also...Orleans did their for album for ABC Dot Records and that has some great playing on it by John...he's very lyrical with his playing...also plays slide well. The Orleans stuff once they had hits is much more commercial but there's still some fine work on "Waking And Dreaming"..that's the album Still The One was from. The title cut has some particularly nice stuff. John just got elected to Congress...go figure!

Here in Nashville one of the hot pickers (and there are MANY) is Johnny Hiland. This dude is an amazing player...especially in the Albert Lee/Style of chicken pickin'

How about Howard Leese of Heart. Howard is playing with Paul Rogers now. Dont let Hearts top 40 hits fool you. This guy can really play when he wants to!!

No Joe has much respect for Carl. I was impressed he is with Supertramp. Played on albums and toured with them for a few years. I was an old Supertramp fan.

Carl is one of those think outside of the box guys like Eric Johnson. When it comes to playing the blues he out thought it. Not that he isn't a monster player he was like a kid with ADD trying to fit every trick and note in the three minutes he soloed during Tap an Angel. During You Upset Me he just lost the blues feel.

What became apparant when listening to them both. Joe has a smoother style more melodic with occasional flurries. Those that have never seen Joe jam with somebody would say he is more rehearsed on his songs.
I have seen him jam in a variety of situations. He sounds like he has been woodsheding every solo for two weeks when I know he was just ripping them out of his head.

Carl was just a little dijointed in my opinion.

Albet cummings may have to be my #2 it is so hard to choose

Bob Zabek ...... wow keep an eye on that guy , has he got any cd's out or anything............... he's fast
