Re: BigJeffJones
Jeff,
Thanks for all the detailed thoughts. This Thread has taken on a life of it's own!
I guess the thing that motivated me to ask, is because I want to be a better Band Member. Not that I'm a piece of wrok, or anything. But, I am always striving to be better. And I thought that since I'm in a new band (only 2 Months in), this was a good time to think about these things.
As far as what I like, is an openness on the others' part. A willingness to do some new things, even if they require actual work.
This new band I'm in is billed as "Country/Blues/Classic Rock". And they have been playing for awhile now. However, when I filled in for 3 shows, they asked me to stay on.
They have been totally supportive of just about everything I've mentioned, so far. Ideas on adding some different tunes, and even on arranging, etc. Also nice, is how they all get right down to "How do we do this", and actually getting their hands dirty, and going to work. So, that has been a breath of frsh air!
And I want to live up to my side of it all. As a Guitarist, I want to work with the Bassist and the Drummer. I want to listen more intently, and take direction and intention, as much as give it. With the Singers, I want them to feel confident in my "being there" and that I am trying to frame them in a type of Musical Landscape. With the other Guitarist...........Well, I want to be LOUDER, of course!
