Re: Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Registry (Serial Numbers "BONAMASSA XXX")

I could swear that I posted here about my JBLP, but I don't see it, so I'll add the info now. I have 119!  Signed by Joe at the Cleveland Ohio House of Blues ( and what a trip that was as the HOB does NOT want to let you in with a guitar.)   Number 119 lives with me in Valley City Ohio USA. Best sounding LP I have ever played.  Now I want a blue one.:P

A blue one has made it to the UK - 276. Bought by a colleague of mine at work via Guitar Village. He reads these forums and I will try to persuade him to register and supply more detail. Hopefully I will get a chance to photo my two and his one in the same room. i.e. Aged, Un-aged and Blue all in a line:-)

Re: Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Registry (Serial Numbers "BONAMASSA XXX")

# 203 (aged/relic'd) here. Bought it off a ebay seller for 3200 (I think that's what I payed)

swapped out the poly saddles though.

Newport Beach, CA

Re: Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Registry (Serial Numbers "BONAMASSA XXX")

Was it new for 3200 because there's another one on ebay us right now and i would love to buy it but it is buy now at 3800 which seems too much, am i wrong?

How much should sell a new one?

JBLP #214 very proud owner smile

Re: Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Registry (Serial Numbers "BONAMASSA XXX")

I'm not certain what the street price over in the states is
but here in germany its (with the current exchange rate) more than 5000$.
And thats already cheaper than a couple months back (around 6000$)

If I were you and i'd have the cash then for sweet suffering Murphy go for it! wink
Otherwise you can email the seller and offer him whatever you are willing to pay.
You cannot go wrong with a JBLP. Its getting harder in the future to get one as they'll
get more rare. Also you have a collectors item, one of Joes children.
and you are member of an exclusive owners club lol
Just kidding, its a great sounding and playing guitar.
I never regret the buy and play it on every gig. Full recommendation.

Mine was technically used but it had factory strings and all the case candy was in tact including the pickup selector knob and picks were in their plastic wrapping.

I thought $3200 was alot....until I played it. Mine is a heavy relic which is the only way I would buy this thing. The spanky new ones are too pristine.

There's one on TGP right now for $3,200.00 which might be the same one on Ebay. Funny, last week or two there were none of these guitars listed anywhere, Ebay, music stores..NONE.

I bought this thing to play not to collect so....The neck is huge which I Love. The poly saddles are **## though but you can judge that for yourself. If you can, play a Large neck '59 to see if you like it.

Anyway- I'm with Stratovari- offer whatever you want. $3,800 is a bit too much. Offer $3,200.00 and see what happens. Still, if you really want it, Pay for it. That's the way I see it.

Either way- it's an insane guitar. I think there are better pickups than the BBII and BBIIIs as they are waaay powerful but for you die hard JB fans this thing rips. I like Joe a ton but he plays with a bit more gain than I tend to dig on. Some Sakashtas or Godwoods will do the trick.

Best of luck

Thanks a lot for your advices ... i appreciate a lot, and especially i hadn't see this one on TGP, i 've just send an offer on this one, i'll see what happens ...

The seller changed the pickups for motor cycle black belt in neck and a wolfe... in the ohter position, i think it is a more vintage type tone which i personaly doesn't dig so much, i would prefer the modern high gain tone of the original humbucker i guess ... but i may change my opinion trying the guiar so ...

About the neck i will try to find a 59 profile if i can but i remeber playing one LP that had a really big neck and well it was not the most confortable for me but still i could accomodate to it ... and in the least case if i buy one and really can't play the guitar, i would not sale, i would rather pay a luthier to work on it ... what do you think?

Re: Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Registry (Serial Numbers "BONAMASSA XXX")

Street price in the US was around $4500. but many dealers discounted it by quite a bit while others held to the $4500 figure.

I can't understand why anyone would buy a JBLP and try to improve upon it. I mean COME ON FOLKS! The guitar was built to Joe's specs! He owns 3 of them and plays one or more on every gig. I mean if you buy one and it doesn't suit your needs, please consider selling it to someone who appreciates it for what it is: One of 298 (that Joe doesn't own)! Swapping out pickups probably won't destroy the collector's value (as long as the originals are kept with it) but shaving down the neck? (shudders). If you're going to do that then just get an R0 and I'm sure that Joe would happily sign that if you asked him.

I couldn't agree more. I actually played R0's forever until I bought #155. I now find the chunkier necks much more comfortable (especially for lengthy playing sessions).

I agree with this but only to the extent that you are wrecking the value of the guitar and NOT AT ALL because it's what Joe does. I love the guitar but the poly saddles had to go. It's my gear and my money, I'll do whatever I want with it. I really doubt that Joe (or Gibson) cares two cents..

I have a 1966 JTM 45/100. I have a custom wound OT in it which TO ME sounds better than the old Drake/Dagnall. I don't care what Jimi Hendrix had. No offense to him of course.

Anyone here ever read the tech notes for Eric Johnson's set up on his '54? It's a mess, Buzzes, Frets out, strings fall of on the high e. I love his sound and playing but want my gear set up correct and not as he likes it.

Chill Winston....Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

I don't think Joe would argue with putting a pair of PAF's in...
