Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

Not too many people last night.........  Kinda nice not to get all squished.  Not too smokey either.  Joe is always a treat, phenominal..........  I also got a seat at the bar, on the side though. I had a good view of Bogie and Mark's butt.......   Bogie does not get enough credit. He is so good at what he does.  It is kinda a trip to hear the sounds when Joe gets the acoustic out and not see his hands making the motions.  Did I hear right at one time, that Joe is going to do an acoustic cd?  That would be very cool.  That was my question for him, but I didn't get a chance to chat with him.  Depending on the snow tonight, not sure if I will make it or not,  45min drive  sad     Have fun to all that do go!

Yes, the next CD will be an all-acoustic one according to recent posts/interviews from Joe.

I'll be there again, but yeah, that snow won't make it an easy drive.

I also noticed it was a lot less smokey and not as packed, which is fine by me!

Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

Bogey got carded on his way into the casino.  BAAAHHHAHAHAHA!  Since he got his haircut he looks about 17 tongue

Anyhoo, See y'all tonight.  I'm bringing my friend Shelly along.  She's tall.  Maybe I can sit on her shoulders.  wink

Anyone ever hear Joe play Reconsider Baby anymore?  I miss that song, and it's not on any of the albums that we have at home.

Live your life with your eyes and your mind wide open.

Yes it is! It's on "Had to Cry Today." tongue

Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

The acoustic mini-set is usually "Miss You, Hate You", followed by "Woke up Dreaming" followed by some instrumental madness touching on Faux Mantini and a lot of Pete Townshend on Tommy sounding stuff....followed by Joe saying "That's harder than it looks" :-)

An acoustic version of ' Django ' , are you sure ?

Not positive, I best delete that...a number was played before "Woke" though, I thought.

Julie, what was that song?

I'm gonna' stick my neck out on this one here, since I couldn't figure out what that was either, but when he started playing acoustic my first thought was a twist on "Helicopters and Gasoline" lead in to "Woke up", but once he started playing "Woke up dreaming", my attention deficit kicked in and forgot what was going on before that. Anybody else got any ideas? Maybe Joe can set it straight.

Later!

Encores:

11. Asking Around for You
12. Burning Hell

Extra long set tonight and the addition of Miss You Hate You, which wasn't played any of the prior nights. The guys were all in good spirits. Bogie dropped a stick more than once, but he still kept the beat going.

This was the last time Joe plays the lounge.  He spoke with the people in charge and will get moved to one of the ballrooms to accomodate all the people in the future.  So probably no more free shows, but that won't stop me! Joe said to me that too many kids couldn't see him in the lounge because it's 21+.  In the adjoining hotel ballrooms, it'll be all-ages. Blues for the kids!

Once again an amazing show!
It's sad to see the multiple nights of shows at the casino go, but change is usually for the good. I look forward to bringing my kids to see Joe in the future. Now they will understand why I would want to go to see the same person play four nights in a row.
Thanks Steve for posting the set lists, it was a fun four nights.

Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

Hello All,

I managed to catch the last 2 shows.  They were excellent.  I was very impressed by Joe's sound, given the set up of the venue.  I liked the new band quite a bit as well.

If Joe does hit the ballroom in the future, I'd love to take my daughters and expose them to some fantastic live music.

His story about "Love You, Hate You" was funny.

All the best to Joe and the band.  We look forward to seeing you again.

Marc

Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

Joe told a story before Miss You Hate you about a lady from another country writing to him about how she had used the song at their wedding because they liked it so much, which is ironic if you just read the lyrics, but it was their favorite, so be it.  Well now they are no longer together and **now** she gets the lyrics and understands the song!

So that Casey Kasem-ish dedication went out to her before the song was played.

WOW...This last 4-Days just flew by.   After having seen all 4 shows I just have to say (as usual) Joe just gets better and better each show.   Last nights show was Bonamastic!!!!!    The Tuesday night show was Joeriffic to watch Joe get so caught up in the music he was playing and he did last night a few times as well.
Joe also added some new chords and a few licks to some old tunes.  You could tell the band was having fun!
Joe, Bogie and Mark:  Thanks for 4 wonderful nights of your music!!!!!!   And Thanks again Joe for meeting my daughter Ginnie prior to Monday's show...

Well tonight....Curl up in a fetal position and have withdrawals.   I gotta find out where the "JB support group" meets tonight!    "Hello, my name is Mike and I"m addicted to Joe".....

Just when I discovered the meaning of life, it changed.

Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

Amen to being addicted to Joe!

The hubby and I drove up for the Tuesday and Wednesday shows. We got seats at the bar both nights, got to play video poker and see Joe in two kickass shows. He was fabulous on Tuesday and was absolutely on fire Wednesday night. I could see his show every night and still get blown away every time.

The highlight was getting to meet Joe and talk a bit. Quite generous and genuine with his fans. It was really a pleasure and a great two days all around (although we got our asses kicked in video poker...oh well!)

I'm just saying.

Steve - did you record any of those shows - or just shank hall

Because the lounge is inside the casino, NO recording equipment is allowed inside.
Too bad too...cause those shows really rocked. I went to all four.

Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

I could have recorded, even with the casino cameras on me, I stealth record enough shows that no one has any idea the tape is rolling.

But this setup at this venue is just plan odd.  You watch the show from a bar stool, while people yell drink orders and the clang, clang, clang and noise of the slots are nearby.  Any recording from this venue just would not sound very good.
