Topic: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

I am going to try and attend all four shows.  They are all free and Joe usually plays about an hour and a half from prior experience at this venue.  I won't be taping...I'll save that for the upcoming Shank Hall show.

If anyone is new to this venue, the band is set up behind the bar, meaning you have the bar and its employees as a constant distraction. Also, there is no partition from the bar and the casino in terms of sound.  Not the best place to take in a Joe show, but it's free!

Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

I have been waiting for this one since this summer!  4 nights!!  I also am hoping to make it to all shows.  The place the casino has Joe play sucks.....  Too much crap in the way, you can never get a good view.....  Oh well, 4 nights of Joe, I can't complain.........  Love it!!!!!!

Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

Joe's playing for free?! And to think there's some bands that charge a hundred bucks at the casino here. I wouldn't go see them if they played for free.

Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

Sounds like you might need a periscope for this place.  Whatever it takes to see Joe,Mark, and Bogie........  UP PERISCOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   lol  lol

I do hope you all get to see and hear...I'd probably have to scale the bar and stand atop to see.......oh boy.....

This is not a venue for short people, that is certain!

I screwed up the dates on the topic, Show dates are 12/3 - 12/6.  With 4 shows, it's easy to mess up.

It's a casino lounge show, basically to draw people into the casino to gamble. Some shows there are a ticketed "concert" but lounge acts are free.

They don't like people like me. I don't gamble at all when I am there and limit my patronage of the bar.  Parking is free too.

In the summer, this same casino has a large tent in the parking lot for shows and those cost money.  I saw KWS/Joe there a few summers ago.

Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

Belexes, I am the same way......  I am there strictly to see Joe.  Not into the gambling or getting all liquored up.  lol    I know there will plenty of others doing that for me.  And I am short!  I start out seeing ok, then all the tall drunk ones that chain smoke stand right in front of me.   I guess Joe is worth it.  smile

Joe is worth it!  Bring a large city phonebook in with you and stand on it. (I know what you're talking about, I am only 5'2" and it can be frustrating at a concert. ) I say, "GO FOR IT!!!!!!"  Have fun and dance....there's no sittin' still at a Joe concert!!!!  wink  Patty

P.S.  But be careful dancing on top of the phonebook!  big_smile

Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

Hey Steve, Laurie and I will attend probably Monday and Tuesday only. I think the hotel is stuffed full of cheeseheads on Sunday due to the Packer game. I do prefer the more intimate "casino" shows because of the sound system or lack of and the absolute limited seating. Let's "anchor down" in front of the whiskey bottles. See you then, Rick

Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

Rick, see you and Laurie after Sunday. I'll be solo on Sunday, Chrissie has to work and she'll probably be at a couple of the other shows.

As I have in the past, I leave right after work and camp out on one of the video poker seats at the bar so I can get a good view of the show. (well, as good as one can get at this place!)

Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

It's Chrissie here:  I will be attending for sure Monday, probably Tuesday too.  I have to work Wednesday.  See y'all then!

Oh--btw--all you's that have "ins" with Joe, tell him to play I Don't Live Anywhere for me.  wink  I never hear that one at shows.  It's one of my favorites.

Sunday Dec 3, 2006

Set:
1. Just Got Paid>Dazed & Confused>Just Got Paid (reprise)
2. Walk in my Shadows
3. So Many Roads
4. Mountain Time
5. Bridge to Better Days
6. New Day Yesterday>Spoonful
7. Woke Up Dreaming (acoustic)
8. Django
9. Had to Cry Today>drum solo>Heart of the Sunrise>Starship Trooper:Wurm

Encore

10. Asking Around For You

Set was about 95 - 100 minutes.

Night one of four. Place was PACKED.  The Packers lost badly today, people drowning their sorrows.  Someone yelled "the Jets suck!" and we found out Joe is a Giants fan, but then they beat the Packers too.

Bogie broke his kick bass drum pedal in his solo, but it was quickly replaced.  If he was sick, I could not tell...only saw one sneeze out of him.  Joe's tech handed him the blonde Les Paul instead of the sunburst for Had to Cry Today, so they had to do a double switch.

Liked that "Lucille" BB King Gibson guitar! Hadn't seen that one before. Joe played that on the encore.

Three more nights to go...

One addition to the selist was "Django", which followed "Woke Up Dreaming".

We talked to Bogie after the show and he got food poisoning in Las Vegas and is eating solid foods again. I knew he was fine when he did that drum solo.

I made the correction, but I don't think the whole song was played, just a snippet?

Re: Oneida Casino - Green Bay 12/2-5/06

The show was as always awesome. I'm not complaining about the view because this time I got to sit at the bar.... I'm one of the strictly to see Joe types too, so this was a much more pleasant experience than the last Joe show I was at in the casino. I'm only 5 ft tall so the bar seat is the only way to go.  I would hang from the ceiling if I had to to see Joe play and FREE is just over the top! Hoping to see all four shows as well, since I didn't get tickets to Shank Hall. It was nice to see you again Steve... thanks for getting the set list out there. Looks just like what I had so I guess I had it right! See you tonight.

Not positive, I best delete that...a number was played before "Woke" though, I thought.

Julie, what was that song?
