Re: More Ceriatone 2550...

Alex,

Well done!  The mix of the Budda with the jub clone sounds wonderful.  Just the right amount of delay for my taste also.  You have a very nice set-up there.

Great playing as well.

Re: More Ceriatone 2550...

I'm digging the sound of that amp.  I think that its a tremendous bang for the buck - looks good, sounds great.  Maybe do another vid same length with only the Ceriatone - all dry and no effects?

Congrats on the new amp   smile

Re: More Ceriatone 2550...

Wow, that sounds really good Alex! I also like the "mix" of the two best ... really cool. cool

One more thing: Do you own a JB LP?? When can I come to visit you?? big_smile

Re: More Ceriatone 2550...

Sounds good Alex, nails the Bridge to Better Days tone!  That's a cool JB inspired rig you have there.  Maybe we could see a video with the same rig + Gigliotti big_smile ?  Thanks for sharing!

*I heard this somewhere, too... but dunno where... if I remeber it I'll post it lol *
Great vid, great amp(s), I'm thinking about buy one... since I'm only student, it's a really affordable amp tongue+

Do you use a "classical" halfstack, or something smaller?
And last - it's a bit hard to find out @ ceriatone.com - is it a 50 or 100w amp?

@ eva: He owns one! He's in the official JB-LP-Register cool

Hi Bonabuddies,

thanks for all the kind comments. smile

Maybe do another vid same length with only the Ceriatone - all dry and no effects?

Steve, I did already. Watch the video again and around 4:00 I switched the Budda and all effects off.
You hear the dry sound of the Ceriatone then.

Wow, that sounds really good Alex! I also like the "mix" of the two best..
One more thing: Do you own a JB LP?? When can I come to visit you??

Eva, thanks for the flowers! Indeed, I'm very happy to call #140 my own. big_smile
I sold a Gibson '57 Goldtop VOS for it. I thought it would be the LP in the world..until I played the JBLP.
You can come around whenever you're close to Braunschweig and make some noise with it over the amps.
I'd be happy.

You're welcome Paul. A video with the Gigliotti would be no problem. I try to make one next week on tuesday
when I rehearse with my little blues band. Otherwise, I don't want to bore the people here with too many videos... roll
But maybe you can do a vid? When I read your current toys then I'd be more than curious...:D

And last - it's a bit hard to find out @ ceriatone.com - is it a 50 or 100w amp?

I use a really poor cabinet. hmm Its a Marshall 1936 cab. It has 2x12" speakers.
I separated them and connect one amp to each speaker. I replaced them to a EVM12L for the Ceriatone
and currently a G12T-75 (former a G12H-30 heritage which I blew up) for the Budda. I will put in a Celestion Gold soon.
So its a very small and compact setup. My 2550 is the 50 watt version. Its more practicable with the volume.
But you can opt for the 100watt as well.

Thanks
Alex

Re: More Ceriatone 2550...

It sounds really sweet man... I agree the best tone is probably the combination, but I really liked the ceriatone tone smile

Anyway, I'm looking around for amps and am considering maybe adding some extra cash for a ceriatone. I usually like to use a little more gain than you were using with a single coil strat. How far did you crank the gain/drive knob on the ceriatone?

Settings are gain on 3.5, Output master 6.5 and gain master 6.
Pretty much less you might think. But I was amazed at the amount of gain the amp can produce.
I'm not certain how good and articulated this still would sound?
Anyway, I'm personally convinced about these amps and highly recommend them.

Re: More Ceriatone 2550...

Hey Alex I'd be more than happy to post a demo of my stuff but I'm not really saavy with computers etc.  What would I need to do to post a video?  If it's not too difficult I'll definately put some stuff up on here.  I'd like to get all the players on the forum together make a dedicated thread for their own JB inspired rigs!

Re: More Ceriatone 2550...

Hey Alex,

That sounds great! I am hoping to do something similar with my 2553 and a 68 Fender Bassman head. I also have a Marshall 1936 212 cab I don't love it but its ok. So my big question is when you play live how are you going to mic that cab? One mic on each speaker? I am guessing most of the venues here would have a cow if I did that.

Remember, your hearing the budda clean channel (set up to blend, and not sound it's best on it's own) and comparing it to the ceriatone drive channel. The budda has a pretty mean dirty channel you should hear to do a fair comparison between the dirty sounds of the 2 amps.

Re: More Ceriatone 2550...

Paul, you just need a didgicam (mine is a simply photo camera where you make video clips).
With USE connection you can upload the MPG file to your pc. And then you just upload it to
Youtube. Its very very simple. But of course the sound quality isn't the best this way.
I like the idea of the JB inspired rigs. Some of the guys here have amazing stuff.
I think about Bens 4 amp rig. Amazing.

BigE, I still struggle with my cab too, but I like that its small sized and I can
transport my whole stuff alone in my car. Yes I mic both speakers and blend them
1:1 over the PA. Its important to have the proper Sound in mix too.
In smaller venues I rather play a 2x12 Valvetech Hayseed combo or even a tiny
Marshall 1974x.

The budda has a pretty mean dirty channel you should hear to do a fair comparison between the dirty sounds of the 2 amps.

Ken, you have a point here. The dirty channel sounds quiet close to the 2550.
A bit different of course. But no point to play two same sounding amps.

Re: More Ceriatone 2550...

SOUNDS GREAT ALEX
                                Nice playing too noticed a few licks I recognise from somewhere:lol;lol;
Does the Ceriatone sound clearer than the jubilee or is it because you
have the input gain quite low , with les paul I like the gain around 4
and strat 6.5 since you have the mids of the budda I lhinkyou  would
also get away with this.  but it is personal taste after all!

I ALSO WAIT TO HEAR GIGILOTTI

"Everybody's entitled to my opinion. wink

Eva, of course I meant what I said. If you're around here, then just drop in! smile
I will be in may at Joes concert either in hamburg or Berlin. But more likely in Hamburg
as the 17.05. is sunday. Would be great to meet you again.
As to our band, we gig on 30.04. as headliner at a "Rock in den Mai" festival here
and I ordered a friend to make a clip of a certain song (play the JBLP then).
I will post it under "other artists" then.

SOFTMC, I haven't tried higher gain settings yet as I think its already very saturated sounding.
I rather keep it a bit lower and kick a TS for the final gain heaven.
Ok I'm convinced! Gonna post a Gigliotti clip soon.
