I heard about this yesterday on the news....of all the things on this list, I would say without a doubt it was not finishing college....Deb was 19 and me 20 when we tied the knot...had 2 children right away....we both tried taking night classes for a few years, but ended up not even getting an AA....besides Danny, Eric and Scagey, I think everyone is in there 20s and older on the forum...any thoughts you would like to share?

Re: 10 things from your 20s that you will regret

I'm 27, I've had a full time job at the same place for 9 years which is around a $40,000 job now.   So I've had a lot of fun in my 20's.  I've had around 20 guitars, several amps, would come and go as I pleased because I bought a house at 21, had a mustang, then had a nice truck, went to concerts every week for a long time.  I never got out of control.  I never got high rarely drank, never smoked, no tattoos or pearcings, was even active in my church big time.  around October of 2005 I decided I needed a girl friend and with in 3 months I was expecting a baby and was married.  Now I'm married with 2 kids and another kid on the way.  I've traded my nice truck in for a honda oddessy, and my guitars are down to 4 or 5.  I don't go out in public anymore because my kids are wild as hell, and rarely do I go to chuch because my son won't stay in his class room he's 2.  Some would say I should regret something... maybe not having birth controll.  Such is life, you play with the cards your delt and its up to you to use them the best way for you.  I have no regrets about my wife or our kids.  But I do wish I waited a few years longer or spaced the kids out a bit.  THis june will be 3 under 3 for 2 months and they are all still in dipers.

You sound like a really sensible person "I never got out of control.  I never got high rarely drank, never smoked, no tattoos or piercings", wish I could say the same!  I wouldn't worry about your choice to have a family, it's all good.  You'll see what I mean in a few years believe me. I had kids very young (I was just 20 and then another at 22) and if I hadn't been a wild child first I would never have been able to cope.  Other people who had kids without going out and enjoying life first seemed unable to really settle into it.  I knew what I wasn't missing! Ok it was blood sweat and tears for a long time whilst they were growing up, I do sympathise with all the poo and pee and sleepless nights!  Then later come the arguments about what is or isn't acceptable behaviour!  But there are also so many joys.  My kids are now fully independent (aged 27 and 29 and still very close to each other) and I have all the time in the world to mess about on here, but I still miss them every day.  I like your bit about "you play with the cards you're dealt and its up to you to use them the best way for you".
My biggest regret in my 20s was that I didn't tell my parents where to get off and stop using me.  Hence I try to let my kids have their own life and not make stupid demands on them.

Re: 10 things from your 20s that you will regret

I regret getting too attached to one woman at a time during my 20's. At that time, people need to date many different people and experience many different things in their lives. I also regret marrying my first wife when I was 23 years old. Oh my, what was I thinking??!! yikes

Other than that, I can't think of anything else......of course, I still feel like I'm 25 years old and there in lies the problem. tongue

Re: 10 things from your 20s that you will regret

I'll go outside the list and speculate on what life may have been like.....I was born to be an athlete, I honestly believe I could have been a  professional baseball player, or a sports agent....sports are such a huge passion, I really dont know what I'd do without sports....my wife and I have talked about how foolish we were to get married so young....I remember our first apartment, we moved in right after we came back from our 1 day honeymoon roll ...."what are you cooking for dinner honey?"......(honey, that sounded so weird to say)...."WHAT!!...I dont know how to cook, my mom always did the cooking".....that first year was a long one, Deb got pregnant 2 weeks after we married, and neither one of us knew beans about cooking....I'm proud to say my wife is a great cook, and I'm a fine eater smile

Not finishing my education, beyond my control, and not travelling enough.
Maybe it's fate. Who knows?

Re: 10 things from your 20s that you will regret

Nothing to regret.
All of it good and bad were necessary to make me the person I am today. Like someone told me once if you have one foot in yesterday and one in tommorrow your pissing all over today.

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

Re: 10 things from your 20s that you will regret

Simon and I married when I was 19 and he was 28. I had Dax when I was 20 and two years later I had Rory. We struggled to make ends meet a lot of the time but we had fun. Never had money for concerts and such or holidays but do I regret any of it....no, not at all.
The boys have grown up into good young men and now we have our independance back. Good thing is we are not too decrepit to enjoy it!

Re: 10 things from your 20s that you will regret

Let's see, in my twenties I was smack in the middle of the 80's !  Not too many regrets other than the usual 80's regrets many of us have.  Too much coke and really bad hair and clothing styles ! But, oh the concerts I saw...

Re: 10 things from your 20s that you will regret

Hmm...well I'm only 22, almost 23 so I guess I shouldn't have anything to regret.... I've got a good job which I love, I make people better again, I care for them paying attention to every tiny detail of their care, seeing somebody come in who is critically ill on a ventilator then seeing them walk out again is so rewarding, I own my apartment, I have a nice black shiney BMW, great friends and family, health and freedom. Only regret is the person I share my life with and being afraid to move on sad
