Topic: Dani Wilde

Hi Folks,
I'd like to mention another young, talented British blues artist by the name of Dani Wilde. Hubby and I saw her at the Keighley Blues club last friday and I was very impressed. She has a huge singing voice for a little lady and her brother Will plays the harmonica and sings. She is 21 and he is 20.
This was taken from Amazon in the info attached to her debut album 'Heal My Blues'

Born and raised in Wiltshire, Dani grew up listening to her father's collection of blues and soul records and started playing acoustic guitar at an early age. Latterly she turned to electric guitar, inspired by Buddy Guy. She got her first break in her teens accompanying British folk legend Maddie Prior before settling in Brighton in 2003 to take a three year music degree at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music. While there she began to make an increasingly strong impact in local music venues and then further afield.
In 2007 Dani toured the UK extensively with her own band. In January 2008 she toured continental Europe as one of the three stars of this year's Blues Caravan (the others being Candye Kane and Deborah Coleman) before returning to the UK for another extensive blitz of dates around the country.

Paul Jones of BBC Radio 2 is a fan: "Dani Wilde's voice is astounding, with a unique raw passion and energy. I truly believe one cannot consider themselves to be a true blues fan until they add Dani Wilde to their collection. She sings with more conviction and passion than old legends from the Mississippi Delta."

Here is a link to a video of her singing I Love You More Than I Hate Myself which is on her cd and written by her.

If you look in my other videos you'll find some more, Mannish Boy, Rock Me Baby and Ain't No Sunshine.

Re: Dani Wilde

Thanks for that Tripsy, Dani is a good talent too. It's great we have so many young blues players in the UK at the moment.

Shame that noone else had joined this thread as yet, when we saw so many posts for Joanne Shaw Taylor. Both are good. Hope to see them both live sometime (when they come up this far!)

Here's is another one of Dani's songs and a video she made herself, it's called Bring Your Lovin Home:

Re: Dani Wilde

Definately a must see for me, unfortunley she has no dates near worcester/birmingham which surprises me as ruf records use a couple of venues in this area. Will keep an eye out though.

Re: Dani Wilde

Unashamed and un abashed plug here.....

Dani Wilde is playing Sedgefield R'n'B Club on Saturday 22nd June; unusually for Sedgefield, still plenty of tickets left, so if you're anywhere near, get yourselves along to this jewel of a R'n'B Club for a crackin' night.

Interestingly, Dani is only the 2nd girl to headline at Sedgefield.

Re: Dani Wilde

Been a fan of Dani's for quite some time and I think she is the best out there at this time, great guitar player and a beautiful singing voice, she also has a wonderful regular band with her.

Re: Dani Wilde

So first off, this wasn’t Dani Wilde TRIO, but QUINTET that I caught on Saturday night at Sedgefield, and what a band. It’s been a long time coming, catching Dani, and Will, but Boy, was it worth it.

You get used to a band having one principle member who’s the focus, maybe a second, key player, but this bunch launch a three-pronged attack. Firstly, you’ve Dani, great soul-etched voice with 60s accent, like chilli-chocolate, rich, smooth and then comes the “kick”; that’s along side some great guitar. On Dani’s left is brother Will, easily one of the best harmonica players of his generation and possessing a gravelly blues growl. On the right, blistering guitar from Stuart Dixon. The way these three wove around and between each other over the backline including Roger Innes’ bass (Sorry! missed the drummer’s name.), impressively tight band.

We got two sets, a 45ish and a 60 minute; Dani used the time to best advantage, mixing from her 3 albums, a couple of covers including a powerful Bonnie Raitt as well as letting Will, looking like he’s just stepped off the set of Sons Of Anarchy, take centre stage for a couple of numbers off his upcoming, new album. Dani picked her tracks well, taking the audience up and down, but never losing them; Mississippi Kisses, Red Blooded Woman, until all too soon, the double whammy of Rolling Stones’ Miss You and her own Juice Me Up left the room squeezed dry. So near the curfew, the encore was a short, acoustic cover of the ol’ standard Love Hurts.

So, its taken way too long to catch up with Dani & band, but it won’t be so long before catching her again. And on the strength of the two numbers Will stepped forward, I’ll be watching out for a full show from him, somewhere down the road. In Germany, you can catch him next month, 13th July at Aug Dem Thie, supporting Aynsley Lister.
