Topic: Keep the Blues Alive 3 cruise

We just docked..... and what can I say it was awesome. Incredible music.....incredible time.
Can't wait until next year. I had a blast with my friend Gary Hoey and the band. Working the cruise helping him if you can call it work. Met all the artist. It was simply awesome.
Looking forward to next year.

Glad to hear that you had fun, wish I was there!

I can't find Joe's set list from the cruise anywhere, do you remember it by any chance? Some video would be nice as well smile

Any news about that? Did Joe already announce that?
Then I go too

Re: Keep the Blues Alive 3 cruise

Another absolutely fantastic 4 days at sea full of great music and fun times with friends. The true highlight of the cruise was witnessing an absolutely epic 5 minute long 3 way guitar duel between Joe, Josh Smith and Kirk Fletcher at the last show on the last night. This is why we come back year after year. Freakin' unbelievable:

Yes there will be a cruise next year as far as who will be there it's not for me to say. Date is something like Feb 27 to March 3 2018

What was the weather like this year's.
As past years was reported cold and rainy

---------------

(If only I had 1% of Joe's guitar talent)

Yes, somewhere in a post Joe said this is going to be an "annual" event!

So thrilled for everyone who got to have the experience!

Thank you, Natasha, for all the vids you took so I can relive the great time we had on our first Joe cruise.  Saw you several times, but never got a chance to meet you.  Next time!

Re: Keep the Blues Alive 3 cruise

Been working like mad to get the videos edited and uploaded from the cruise. I filmed over 150 songs plus the interview Joe did with the director of the movie "Sidemen - Long Road To Glory" and "Confessions of a Vintage Guitarist". It can take between 45 min up to 1 1/2 hours for each video from beginning editing to final upload so I'll be at this for a while. Just wanted to share a few playlists of what I have finished so far:

The Artist Jam featuring Josh Smith, Kirk Fletcher, Marcus King, Gary Hoey, Eric Gales, Jack Pearson, Paulie Cerra & Jade MacRae https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P … kotnpC8IM9

Bruce Hornsby & Joe Bonamassa Joe played on six of Bruce's songs. In the first song on the playlist (which was actually the last song of the set) Joe does a solo that will just blow you away. It starts about 7:46. The sound for Bruce's show was very off. The bass drum was overpowering to the point of painful for those in front, plus the lights were constantly being beamed right in our eyes. It was like an auditory and visual assault. Many people left during the set because they couldn't handle it. I'm glad we stuck it out though, because that solo Joe did at the end was absolutely golden and redeemed the show. I was able to drastically manipulate the sound Phil captured with his audio recorder using the equalizer in my video editing program, so the finished videos sound quite good. It's unfortunate the sound was not better because it would have been a much more enjoyable show for the audience. Joe certainly looked like he was having a good time playing with Bruce and it's always interesting to hear him play different genres of music. It shows how versatile he truly is. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P … OxDC5QTwx0

Joe's Page/Beck/Clapton Tribute We all were so happy Joe performed this show. The crowd loved it and it was an added bonus to see Mike Hickey on stage with Joe. In my mind this is the band they should have had last summer. Mike and one of the back up singers would have been perfect for the British Blues Explosion. But anyway, enough of what I think. Here is the full playlist and Joe snuck in "Spoonful" as an added treat https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P … 6dJs9bH9Vj

Beth Hart w/special guest Joe Bonamassa Beth played a long set with her own band and then Joe came out and joined her on the last 4 songs. It was great to see them play together again. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P … cP7Dy5_K9d

Anders Osbourne Here are 3 songs from Anders' pool deck show https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P … Ba6GJOmmXL

Joe interviews director Scott Rosenbaum and Roy Weisman https://youtu.be/GoB4ohc7WJQ This is an hour long interview Joe conducted with Scott & Roy. Joe is really good at doing this kind of thing. Very witty and entertaining. Joe was trying to bring attention to the documentary "SIDEMEN - Long Road To Glory" It's an award winning film about the lives of bluesmen Hubert Sumlin, Pinetop Perkins and Willie "Big Eyes" Smith. In order to do the movie correctly it required purchasing the rights to the music and footage which is incredibly expensive. There is a Kickstater campaign going on right now to help fund the movie and if the funding isn't met, then the movie will not be released. Please consider donating a few dollars to this campaign so that the incredible stories of these three remarkable men can be told. It will help preserve an important part of history and it might help to get Hubert Sumlin elected to the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.

So that's all I have for now, still many more to go...

Re: Keep the Blues Alive 3 cruise

Great job! Thanks for the hard work and long hours. This is as close as I'll be getting to a cruise.

Re: Keep the Blues Alive 3 cruise

Glad you all are enjoying them. Here are a few more.

Anders Osborne 30 minutes of Ander's set. Wish we could have seen more, but left to catch someone else. They had a kind of reggae feel to their songs. Really hard sometimes to see as much as you want to do to the schedule. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P … Ba6GJOmmXL

Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown Caught 3 of their songs. They were scheduled at really inopportune times. Glad I was able to catch what I did. They are a young group. Very rockin'. Nice to see young players on board. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P … OxiR5rFmS5

King Solomon Hicks This was Solomon's acoustic show. He is quite talented on the guitar. Would have liked to have seen him with a band, but didn't get the chance. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P … 5O2LzG_PMr

Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers This was their pool deck show. Eclectic mix of songs, almost countryish at times as well as blues and classics. Nicki sings a great version of Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart" https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P … yf2_7MVQwN

Gary Hoey https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P … aLRYamYYUu Gary did an impromptu acoustic show on his dobro with his bassist to keep people entertained while all the bands were waiting for their equipment to be loaded. There was an issue with getting things loaded on time and on the first day a number of acts were cancelled and others started late. Once everything was finally loaded everything went smoothly.

Re: Keep the Blues Alive 3 cruise

I heard an explanation that made sense about the late arriving equipt. and that was, a bunch of equip. and supplies were delivered to terminal 2 which was our first scheduled departure place...when we were moved to terminal 3, all those supplies and equipt. had to be moved from terminal 2 to terminal 3 in order to be loaded...this made some sense to me but I don't know if it was the right explanation or not...

Re: Keep the Blues Alive 3 cruise

Yeah Pat, I heard the same thing. Makes sense if that was the case.

Marcus King Band Here is the show Marcus King had on the pool deck. It was too hard to figure out song titles so I just uploaded it as one complete hour and 12 minute show. Lighting was crazy so I had to switch cameras a minute and a half in to the show. The stage was barely lit at all and the spots were all beaming on the audience. Pretty eye piercing at times. With the stage fog added in it makes for an interesting kind of surreal looking show. https://youtu.be/vvcwgfN6wQs

Joanne Shaw Taylor This was from her show on the first night in the Stardust Theatre https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P … JQKuirBC7P
