Topic: Greeting's Everyone, Brand Spankin new member!

Hi Everyone just call me stratdaddy and I'm sure thats not going to be a hard one for any of you to figure out. I'm an over the hill, grey haired retired (forced in to retirement due to injuries aquired in 1971 in the beautiful resort country of South Vietnam) I'm not cryin about, I still have use of both hands and a STABLE full of Strats I have been collecting since High School, I'm now 54 yrs old. I have never belonged to a message board as long as I have had a computer and like the questions that are asked on this one so here I am. I live in Portland, Oregon and have seen JB a total of 10 times all over the western states, I have alot of his music and own a guitar or two that he used to own. I do have a question for anybody, does Joe read these much, I know he's plently busy and also I have a question to ask him about a guitar that I recently bought from a guitar shop in New York that he visits and does biz with sometimes and I need to get a little history on this guitar for my own records. Also if any of you ever get a chance ask Joe what Walter Trout thinks about his finger swells, roll-offs whatever you call them. I hope you here the story I heard him tell in a little neighborhood record shop in Portland. Anyway, I've gone on way too long and I'm real excited about being able to a chat with everyone so if I can be of any help (I usually have a strat or two for sale and always some kinda parts) just let me know, Like I said I've had strats since I was a kid and know a little bit about them Vintage or New, so if I can be of any help just let me know...Would some put a fire under JB's butt and get him back to the Northwest. Joe have you ever thought of playing the Portland Waterfront Blues Festival? It's huge and you need to be there. Later

Re: Greeting's Everyone, Brand Spankin new member!

Hey stratdaddy, welcome! Any problems that Joe and Walter have had in the past I think it's safe to say are over. After all, Joe did play on Walter's most recent CD. I know when I've mentioned Joe to Walter and vice-versa they've both been very complimentary towards one another.

Stratdaddy, Great name! Welcome to the forum and don't worry about rambling on, we really enjoy good stories..and I just turned 58 yesterday..not the contest I want to win!!! I had to laugh because Joe was on the forum last night and you can tell when he's on the road because he forgets his password and logs on as Bonamassa. Have fun...Cathy

Re: Greeting's Everyone, Brand Spankin new member!

Welcome StratDaddy:

Glad to have you aboard.

Like BluesMan, I also missed the "Asian Vacation" with a high lottery number - 225 or 226 (I can't quite remember which).

And like yourself, I, too, have a "problem" with guitars taking over spare corners and places in my house. But despite a few Gibson guitars - i.e. ES-335 and Les Paul Custom, I just keep coming back to my Strat (man, did Leo Fender "stick the landing" with that design way back in the early 50's..!)

Again welcome to the site - enjoy yourself and I look forward to your posts.

Mark

Any problem you can't solve with a good guitar, is either, unsolvable or isn't a problem.

Re: Greeting's Everyone, Brand Spankin new member!

Stratdaddy,

What a great name, cant believe some one didn't grab it earlier. You will like it here, the people are cool, even if there not real. I mean I've never seen or met one, I guess they exist. I only have one request from you, tell me a story. I dont care if you make the schitt up! I love hearing stories, especially when it pertains to music in any form. I got a few that I cant post. I probably have pushed the envelope more than once on here, but remember what popeye said " I am who I am".

I know you dont know who in the hell I am, but I dig talkin about life, especially the day to day stuff. Tell us your stories, and that goes to anyone who is reading this...... Strat, let me ramble just a bit, I go way off topic when I'm trippin. Life is so damn short, from time to time, dont you wish you could have said one more thing to that person at the gig you were at. You know what I'm talkin, your in line for a beer, your geeked just to be hanging out, and work was hard.... Music is the cure all to most anything in life, but hey that is just my opinion.........You still there?.... Wasnt sure if you freaked out on me, your probably thinkin WTF?

Have a good time on here, I'm no musician, but there are plenty here that are, and somethat wish they were, like me!

My name is Shred, and that is all I got...... Goodnight

P.S........gotta check on airline tickets to Portland, doesnt Jet Blue fly in there, there dirt cheap!

Welcome Stratdaddy.
Love to see new people who like Joe to come to this forum and sign themselves in here.
We are a family that is growing every day.

Re: Greeting's Everyone, Brand Spankin new member!

Good to meet ya stratdaddy. I too am a new member and also from Portland. I hear that Joe is going to be playing the Aladan Theater in September. I have never seen Joe live, but plan to correct that this year. What record shop did you get to chat with Joe? From what I have read and seen in video, Joe seems like more that just a great musician. He seems like a great guy. Man I would love to hang out and chat with him.
For a better list of his upcoming shows search for Joe Bonamassa at http://www.pollstar.com/
If you see an 18 wheel truck going down the sunset highway with Joe Bonamassa blaring from the CD that would be me smile
Take care,
Rory

"Rock ON & Keep the Faith"

Re: Greeting's Everyone, Brand Spankin new member!

Hi, Im new to the board here. Im 50 years old in live in Ontario , Canada.  Ive been a blues/rock fan since i was a kid but like many different styles of music. Ive been a Rory Gallagher freak  for over thirty years. yikes. Had the pleasure to meet Rory after a show in Toronto back in the 70s.In fact, i first heard Joes name  at a Rory fan site where they were debating the best 10 or so guitar players alive or otherwise. Joes name kept coming up so i became curious enough to check out Joe. Probably one of the smartest moves ive ever made.
Joe is a great talent who displays a genuine love for the blues. His enthusiasm is infectious.Like Rory, Joe is a truly decent human being. I have been playing guitar for 35 years too. I call my style persistent. I get a little jealous when i see the enormous amount of God given talent  Joe has been blessed with. Im sure he will put it to better use than i would have anyways. Joe has certainly filled the musical void in my life after Rory passed. I just wish Joe would come to Ontario soon or more often. Hes at top of my Need To See list now. I try and spread the good word about Joe as much as possible. Would love to get my hands on a Always On The Road T Shirt. Keep rocking Joe. I hate to be cliche but... YOU DA MAN

Re: Greeting's Everyone, Brand Spankin new member!

Welcome HotCoals to the forum.  Rory has mentioned quiet a bit on this forum and there are some devoted fans of his too.  Being a guitarist for 35 years you no doubt have an appreciation for great guitarist and Joe is indeed special.  Being in Ontario, seems you could drop down to Ohio or some place up north when Joe is touring those states.  It would be well worth the drive!!!  Those tshirts are no longer available, mine is getting really faded!

Re: Greeting's Everyone, Brand Spankin new member!

Welcome Stratdady and HotCoals to the best forum there is. For me this forum was the first too, about 3 years ago I guess. I'm almost 54, 4th of August and from Holland and Joe is really getting bigger and bigger in Europe. All shows in the last 2 years sold out and the venues are getting bigger too.
Very nice people and they all know a lot about GOOD music and that's the music I love too!
Indeed Joe is very special in playing and in person.
have a nice time on the forum.
