Topic: supa trem

Just landed a fulltone supa trem on ebay. I have been messing with the danelectro cool cat and the hardwire tr-7. These will be going begging as soon as it arrives. Now to hunt down some pics of Joe's pedalboards for settings. His DD3 and jubilee settings seem to be working for me so might aswell go with his supa trem settings. Anyone know what they are?

If you have it on the hard setting, you can set the mix knob at zero and still here the trem effect.
OR..if you turn the number 2 trim pot (inside pedal) all the way clockwise,
you can have the mix knob at Zero in the soft mode and still have a subtle trem effect.
If you then turn the mix knob up at all, you get a very prominent throbbing tremolo sound..too much.

Thanks for the link some useful info there and from the man himself. I can't wait to try it out. The danelectro cool cat is good value but have always been interested in the fulltone. I have my cool cat after my fuzz but before my fulldrive and it is def the way to go, for me anyway.

Re: supa trem

So the supa trem arrived this morning and with the wife out I plugged it in instead of doing the dishes. I set it up with the settings joe uses in the pedalboard image link. I never read the instructions and thought i'd try it before messing with the internal pots. One word - Amazing! Left on it really enhances the tone. My TR-7 is on it's way - will keep the danelectro as a spare.

I think I am now pretty happy with my pedal board. Only 1 thing to change but I'll get to that.

I was going for bonamassa/hedrix/sayce/grissom and a bit of eric johnson in there too.

MY board now runs,

Dunlop Standard Crybaby ( I have the hendrix one too but prefer the standard- might try the bonamassa wah)
Dunlop Hendrix Fuzz
Dunlop Hendrix Octavia
Fulltone Supa Trem
Fulltone Fulldrive
Line 6 M5
Fulltone Deja Vibe
ZVEX box of rock (on all the time - boost off and all knobs at 12)

Into a 89 Jubilee 50/25 on the clean channel with Joe's settings. Boos RV-5 and MXR Carbon Copy or DD3 in the loop.
Marshall power brake
Zilla Cabs 2x12 with a 1x12 baffle installed loaded with a EV12L Speaker.
Homemade plexi baffle in front.

This is a fantastic sounding rig and hopefully I'll keep it this way for a while. Considering changing the M5 for a M9 as I will be able to run up to 3 pedals at once with that. That way I can have tube screamer and rotary drum effect at the same time.

In a nutshell - Get a supatrem - it's taken me a long time and saving to get this rig and it has been well worth it.

Re: supa trem

OK Fuzzblues you are bound by law of this forum to post a sound clip demo of that rig ASAP. ;^)

I notice you use the Clean Channel on your Jubilee - me too. I thought I was the only one - I love it - I can't really get what I want out of the Lead Channel - a little too gainy for my liking. How are you using the Powerbrake with it?

Re: supa trem

I use the the clean channel as for some reason I don;t get on with the lead channel. The box of rock set all knobs at noon and the sound is instant hendrix, roll back the volume and it's wind cries mary, move it up and I can get some pretty good plexi tones but without the crazy volume, with my strat of course.  Plug in my PRS Grissom and it's classic rock all the way. Step on my fulldrive for ryhtm, hit the boost on the fulldrive and add delay for solos.
I am using the power brake running the clean channel full out just adds a touch of compression. The power brake gives me some volume control.

Re: supa trem

You guys have me wanting one of these. I have never tried one.  I love the way modulation pedals seem to tighten the feel of the pick on the strings.  Sometimes chorus is too much effect.  Does this trem pedal on a low setting give the guitar the tight yet forgiving feel?

Re: supa trem

I've had this pedal for about a year and a half.  Ran it after and before OD for months at a time.  Finally settled on it being first in the chain on my small open mic rig pedal board shelf.

HoosierRock: I've found using it first, you can have the 2 trim pot all the way clockwise (as mentioned above), then mix knob slightly above zero with rate just past half and the effect is pretty prominent UNTIL you turn on your tube screamer or whatever you're using and it smooths out nicely.  However, I keep my OD on all the time.  You don't notice it too much until I let a chord or something ring out, then it shines through.  I'm pretty happy with it, wouldn't do a rig/amp set-up without one in the future.  It does or can eliminate some pick attack because of the swell it produces.

p.s. I use my line 6 m9 trem effect on my other pedal board with my "stereo" rig and the trem throbs back and forth left to right..pretty cool in my opinion. -Seth
