Topic: EBMM Game Changer

I noticed Joe plays quite a few EBMM models (points to profile name). I don't know if you guys have seen the previews of what Ernie Ball has in store for NAMM 2011, but take a look here:

Gee I would love to see a Joe Bonamassa EBMM signature guitar...woops, did I just say a bad word?

Re: EBMM Game Changer

Yikes. EBMM keep getting more enticing. How can they get it SO right, and Gibson get it SO wrong?

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Re: EBMM Game Changer

Its looks absolutely amazing! On the gamechangerwebsite under the artist tab are still a couple of empty pictures. Maybe one of them belongs to joe?  big_smile

EBMM is run by musicians, for musicians.  They use the input of ppl like Steve Morse, Tony Levin, Dave LaRue, these are top virtuoso players.

Gibson is run by men wearing suits, and they make guitars for the masses so they can increase numbers.

Now I am certain EBMM cares about numbers as well, otherwise it would be a bad business model, but they operate on quality first principles.  Heck, even their korean line of guitars (Sterling) outperform most epiphones and a lot of fender guitars.

Huge fan of what Sterling Ball is doing and one day I hope to own either a Steve Morse Y2D or a Albert Lee HH.

Re: EBMM Game Changer

That looks awsome.  I am going to reserve judgement until I play one... but I like the way it looks like a real guitar.

The James Tyler Variax is interesting to me also but only the Les Paul looking one.  Not as a be all end all for guitars but as an interesting tool for a few applications.

Re: EBMM Game Changer

I am incredibly impressed with the Game Changer. Personally though, I don't know if I'd be able to handle all those options... I'm way to indecisive as it is. I'd never be able to settle on a sound. Very, very impressive though. Hopefully I'll get to mess around with one someday. I wonder what the price tag is looking like.

Block inlay Gibson ES-335, 50th anniversary American Strat, '61 RI White SG, '62 RI Relic Strat, Replica Korina Flying V, Gold Tone Paul Beard Resonator,  '58 Les Paul RI, American Highway 1 Fender Strat, Breedlove Acoustic, Stonetree Joe Bonamassa Custom, HIWATT Lead 100R, Reeves Custom 30.

Re: EBMM Game Changer

Gibson/Fender destroyer for sure...

...is it me or is the Les Paul good enough as it is? I like those particular sounds and don't feel the need for all the bells and whistles...but I can see it being good for the session musician.

Re: EBMM Game Changer

I don't think it is a guitar for everyone.  But Sterling makes a good point in the videos; we are so accustomed to the LP sound, or to the Fender sound, that we are sort of just... satisfied.  I mean, imagine if history had worked this out backwards and we started with  the Game Changer, and suddenly they told us that we can only have three to 5 preset sounds.  We would be outraged!!   I think for any artist who is recording the Game Changer is an awesome tool.  I think for any artist willing to work with the instrument in order to design new tones, it is also an awesome tool.

Re: EBMM Game Changer

You said it, also Sterling (Big Poppa) Ball is passionate about what he does, the whole company, even down to the customer service is beyod anything I have experienced. I have never ever played a bad Ball! It would be nice to see a Joe Bonamassa signature EBMM guitar!

Wow!  I am certainly impressed but not surprised.  Those new TC Electronic pedals that allow you to download sounds from their website is also another cool NAMM find.
