Ace Frehley's sunburst Les Paul Customs were the first ones I'd ever seen like that. Who else in the 70's played a LesPaul Custom Sunburst? Everyone else played Sunburst Standards and Deluxes...

Anyone who loves DiMarzio pickups can thank Ace Frehley. Apparently Larry DiMarzio was winding pickups in Ace's hotel room to get his business going. Ironically, Ace only had his bridge pickup wired, the other two (in the triple pickup config) were not even wired! Guaranteed to have a true on/off switch effect on the pickup selector!
