Something from the CVB site (Check track #1! wink):

TRADING 8s is available!  The new CD by the Carl Verheyen Band that features some of the world’s most amazing guitarists has been released and is ready for purchase or download from the Store.    The band is very happy with this record and we thank the many musicians that played on it.  Here is a rundown of the songs and players:

1)            Highway 27:  Featuring Joe Bonamassa with Carl going first.  Joe plays a Les Paul and Carl plays a  ’61 Stratocaster. In the fade out, Joe starts.  Carl also uses a ’66 Rickenbacker 12-string, a DeLap baritone guitar and a ’51 Gibson J-50 acoustic guitar.  To be played in your car!

2)            Taxman:  Featuring Scott Henderson with Carl going first. After trading 8 bar solos for a while, they break down to a half time feel with Scott on electric sitar and Carl trading guitar licks.  Scott uses a John Suhr strat and Carl uses a ’61 Stratocaster.  Craig Copeland sings the background vocals with a nod to the George Harrison original.

3)            On Our Way:  Featuring Steve Morse with Steve playing the first solo.  Steve plays a Music Man Steve Morse model and Carl uses a ’65 Strat for the chord melody and a ’92 Gibson Flying V for the solo.

4)            Constant as the Wind:  Carl plays the solo on a John Suhr strat style guitar.  Jim Cox joins the band on B-3 and Naomi Star contributes background vocals.

5)            New Years Day:  Featuring Robben Ford with Carl playing the first solo.  Carl plays a ’61 Strat throughout and Robben plays a ‘68 Gibson ES-335.  Jim Cox plays B-3.

6)            Higher Ground:  Featuring Rick Vito on slide guitar. Rick has the pure, sweet slide tone.  On this track Carl also plays slide with a grungier sound  even though, by coincidence they both used their 1956 Supro Dual Tone guitars.  In the solo section Carl begins with a 12 bar solo on slide, stating the theme, followed by a solo on a Les Paul. Then Rick plays 2 beautiful choruses on slide.  Carl rejoins with the Les Paul again to take it home.

7)            Henry’s Farm: Originally a solo acoustic piece, this version is orchestrated with a few more guitars, including a Mark Angus CV model acoustic, a 1965 Guild F-50 and a ’65 Strat.

8)            Henry’s Farm (part 2):  Featuring Jim Cox on piano. Jim and Carl trade solos on this abstract deconstruction of the original song.  Jim plays a Bosendorfer 9 foot grand.  Carl uses a 1965 Stratocaster.

9)            Country Girl: Featuring Albert Lee with Carl playing the first solo.  Carl plays a 1960 Telecaster custom and Albert uses a Music Man Albert Lee signature model. Carl uses a Supro slide guitar, a ’66 Rickenbacker 12-string, a ‘59 Martin D-18 and a Dobro for the rest of the song.

10)            Eastern Steppes:  Carl plays the entire song on a 1958 Strat and an Avlalon CV signature model acoustic.  Jim Cox and Naomi Star contribute B-3 and vocals.

Dave Marotta and Walfredo Reyes, Jr play bass & drums on all tracks. Walfredo adds percussion and Craig Copland arranged the background vocals.

Re: New Carl Verheyen CD "Trading 8's" is out!

I purchased this album yesterday, and I'm really liking it so far. I'm a fairly new fan of Carl's, but I like what I hear so far!

Yeah, he's pretty great! I love his Tones, too.

I'd also recommend getting the "Rumor Mill" DVD/CD Set. And also the last CD "Take One Step".  Both feature extra DVD stuff. All kinds of "Extras"! wink

He's also got a new instructional DVD or Book coming out soon.
