I'm with Deezer.

I got a parts-built strat from ebaycaster. Totally the way to go. Custom made by me for me.
Getting rid of the Fender Texas Specials though.

I love strats smile
'93 Burgundy Mist US Strat with a maple board (very cool guitar)
'2003 Highway One Strat with a maple board (My baby love it to pieces)

I did have a 2000 deluxe strat which I traded for a '92 Korean Epiphone Dot
I traded an '89 MIJ 62 Re-Issue Strat (loved it but never played it) for the burgundy mist one above.

And I'm currently building my own which will end up as a 62 re-issue in nitrocellulose shell pink big_smile just waiting on some good weather so I can spray the body properly smile

That being said though, I own a Fender Standard Telecaster, and I couldn't be happier with it in terms of tone and feel.

Right on, I play through a '95 Blues Deville 410.

My first guitar was a Mexistrat, then a couple years ago my little sister gave me a Squire Strat. I sanded down the body to the natural finish, put the neck, bridge, input jack, pickguard, pickups, and selector switch from my Mexistrat in it, and that's how my Frankenstrat was born.

I'm actually in the market for a nice Tele right now, and I'm hearing a lot of good things about the Baja.

I'll throw in a picture of my Deville for kicks.

Re: I'm Fed up with the F word nonsense so.....

I've got to admit it, I own 2 strats but neither are stock. I know very few people who have stock strats or LP's, but Fenders were always supposed to be the affordable instrument... but they're working on pricing themselves out of the market with this 30% increase. Not what Leo envisioned... but he bailed a long time ago. I've also got to admit that I miss seeing/hearing Joe play strats. They were a key part in his sound and tone in the past. Pain and Sorrow just wouldn't be the same, no matter how good that LP's bridge pup sounds !

Great topic! I have a Fender Lone Star strat s/s/h , but I removed the humbucker and replaced the single coils (texas specials) with Kinmans and replace the humbucker (Duncan pearly gates) with a kinman single coil. Love it, but I would love to check out one of those closet classics.

That fiddle has a monster tone!  Even I like the sound of it.

I know nobody cares, but that's the beauty of it.  I have always loved Fender Basses.  I have always loved Gibson guitars.  There are exceptions to all of course.

I do not own a Fender guitar.  Mine's an Epi SG.  My son's first real guitar was a Blonde Squire Strat.  It was a beauty and had a typical sound.

Then he started listening to Slash and Led Zep, Santana and some blues and couldn't get that roar.

So I bought him a PRS with P 90s.  Last time I looked that Strat was in my garage/studio.  and he's at school...:D

Re: I'm Fed up with the F word nonsense so.....

Here is my list of past and present fender guitar/ amps.

1. MIM White Stratocaster with rosewood fret board.  My parents bought me this for my Graduation it was my first real guitar.
2. California Black Stratocaster, was MIA but the body and neck were cut out in Mexico and painted.  Sold it because the neck angle was off so bad.  The strings fretted out all the time past fret 12.  Sold it for a Gibson ES-335.
3. American Series 3 tone sunburst Stratocaster (My baby) Looks a lot like the Derek and the Domino's Strat on the back of the cover of Layla and other assorted love songs.
4. Eric Clapton Artist Series "Blackie" Stratocaster (first year they offered Vintage Noiseless in them)
5. MIM Black Nashville Power Telecaster, shear veritility and the best bang for my buck.
6. MIM black Powerhouse Stratocaster I swapped the neck on it and put a V neck on it.
7. MIM Transparent Telecaster fitted with a Humbucker neck pu.
8. Squire Affinity Tele in butterscotch.
9. MIM Deluxe 90 Solid state amp my first real amp that I bought.
10.  modern Vibroluxe Reverb Upgrade from the "90"
11.  Hot rod deluxe My new amp.
12. squire side kick - my first amp.
13.  Does G&L count???

Anyways I wished I still had half of that stuff but truth is I don't.  Being responsible sucks!  Fender and Gibson rule!  PRS close third.

Re: I'm Fed up with the F word nonsense so.....

I love my '99 American made Roadhouse Stratocaster and 2005 American Standard Tele.

Fender Basses deliver a 1, 2, 3 punch like a 6 armed boxer hitting you with 3 fists at a time (and in the face, gut, and uh, where it counts)...

A friend recently got an Eric Johnson Strat and that thing is pretty darn sweet!

I've heard really good things about the Eric Johnson Strat...they say its like a new vintage Strat.

Re: I'm Fed up with the F word nonsense so.....

I have a 40th anniversary American Standard that I would love to replace, but I can't. The high E frets out ever so slightly on 1 to 1 1/2 step bends around the 12 fret and that is frustrating, but the rest of it is just good to me, you know? The neck pickup (all are stock) is deep and rich, and the middle pickup which I use alot has that metalic thing but not obnoxiously so, if you roll the tone down about 3 or 4 clicks (thanks Joe for that tip).

I'm just pleasantly stuck.

'03 Clapton strat. "Blackie" I think it's one of the best guitars they make.  Boy did I really luck up, because I new nothing of strats when I bought it.  My two cents.

I'm tired of seeing this "Starts with an F and ends with an R" crap...it's a Fender. Joe's not gonna get his feelings hurt if you own or enjoy or play or sleep with Fenders.

Re: I'm Fed up with the F word nonsense so.....

i play a 50th anniversary strat, and i love it. Granted I was always a fan of Gibsons, i went through an SRV phase where i just had to have a strat. Having never own a les paul (but soon enough i will) it is kind of awkward when i play my friends, it just doesnt sit as well in my hand as a strat.
