Twitter? I haven't figured out Facebook yet. Hell I just learned how to do Myspace this Winter!!!!!!

Ah yes Rev. Paul,

I've read that in our distant future if our species survives. we will have enormous heads and much smaller extremities becauser of lack of use. Think about how much we sit behind PCs, text on cell phones, participate in on line forums or chats and even once in a while, sit and watch the old boob tube. And we wonder why we and our children are so out of shape? You know, I thought E.T. was pretty cute, but I'm not sure I really want to look like him.

And I'm just as guilty as everyone else too.

In the words of The Jackson 5 (well, almost) I would like to say.......

twittly diddly dee, twittly diddly dee

twittly dee!!

I don't know why, maybe I just needed to get it out of my system. Worse still, maybe I still have it in my system. Time may tell.

Dino, did you actually write this...."I use it for both local involvement in my life..." Local involvement??? Is that kinda like meeting with your friends and hanging out where you live? roll

Oh, and another thing.....did Tweety Pie twitter or tweet when he tought he taw a puddy tat?

At the risk of getting gsj all worked up again

Dino, you had me at "I beleive." I just signed up. Coldplay is on Twitter. Penn Gillette, Dave Mathews. Not to mention politicians such as John McCain, political figures such as Carl Rove.

It is a way to personally connect with fans and friends which is what Joe is has used to his advantage sincerely. He definatley can text. He does use FaceBook but I don't think you can post to Facebook from a mobile phone.

Building fan loyalty is the key to making money in this age of downloads. People won't steal from you if they like you. At least I would hope not.

Again it is Joe's choice whether he is comfortable with it but I think it would be great.

By the way if your interested I'm 79thStreet on twitter

Re: Why Joe Should Embrace Twitter

You can post on Facebook from a mobile phone....is probably not as quick as twitter! To be honest though, I don't need or want to know what everyone is doing all of the time.........I have trouble keeping in touch with close friends and family as it is!?!
I like to know stuff, and I enjoy reading Joe's updates on his Facebook page.....but I dont need to know absolutely everything. I think being spoon-fed information at an alarming rates tends to sanitize things. Just my opinion.

There will always be the next big thing to come along.....and Facebook will fade like MySpace has to a certain degree, but I'm staying away from this Twatty lark...enough is enough!! I'll come here if I need to know anything, and leave the twittering to the twits??

Re: Why Joe Should Embrace Twitter

All these things seem to come in waves and then appear to be forgoon, I set up a myspace several years ago, which i now rarely use as my friends don't really post there much anymore (still good for hearing bands) and it is slow and bulky. Then everyone moved to Bebo, which is like myspace for teens, but a little more user friendly. Deleted that one as I then found myspace was better and the same people were all on there. Now it seems Twitter is the trendy one, so I could either go for it, or wait another nine months and see what is the rage then. I don't really see the value in having all these redundant profiles around the web just because someone has hyped another site.  I spent too much time behind a PC just at work!

Should Joe embrace Twitter? I'd say, like everyone else, he's free to consider it. Will it help sell more CD? Very hard to say.

Well Roy I guess I'm not so smart because I do give a twit. Again. Myspace, Facebook, Twitter. All social networking sites. The best advertising is word of mouth. You trust your friends. It is yet another way to spread the word of Joe virally on the internet. Sue me for thinking 21st century here.

In the UK Joe is on one of the few radio broadcast stations in the country. Word travels through conventional mediums there. The US thank god has more options. Unfortunately because of all those options it takes longer for the word to spread across this huge country.

So you don't want to twit fine. I'm not talking to you although I thought you were on the Street Team member. This isn't in the Street Team section but there is a post on it there. It is a tool to spread the word about Joe. If Joe doesn't like the idea to contribute himself doesn't mean it isn't a good idea to spread the word ourselves using this tool.

So go ahead and poo poo this idea whether its because of Dino suggesting it or because you are scoring brownie points with our English brethren. I however take promoting Joe pretty seriously. Twit and Twat are funny words. The joke has been beaten to death like that old dead horse here.

Hmmmm, that's a bit cruel, isn't Jim? I wasn't questioning your or anyone else's intelligence concerning Twitter. I was simply expressing an opinion like everyone else had done, but also tried to add a little humor as some others had too. However, you chose to single me out and try to say I have some sort of problem with Dino, which I don't. Heck, I've never met Dino, but hope to when I travel to Wausau for their festival.

You know in Facebook, your picture keeps popping up on my page asking if I wanted to add you as a friend, probably because of all the people in common we know. Several times I was about to send an invitation, but didn't because I figured you'd just use some sort of derogatory comment like you used toward me when you granted me access to the forum again. Remember Jim, "it takes one Christmas Goose to know another", right?

However, when you question my dedication to Joe or his Street Team, then you definitely have gone to far!!! I'd suggest you don't do it again and we can just go our separate ways.

Fellas!  Everybody!  If Joe decides to use it, then we will all govern ourselves accordingly.  It is just one more way to reach an audience, just one more marketing tool.  THAT'S ALL IT IS.

We share opinions and we know what those are like.  It is NOT about Dino or Roy or Jim or BigJeff or Geoff or anybody else.  My next observation is very simple.  What passes for communication is sometimes lost on me.

I speak more than one language and sometimes the only thing people hear is a grunt.  I know I don't fit in perfectly.  It's Ok and can be a source of amusement.  I'm cool wit it.

Lastly... like I told 15 year old Scagey about growing up still being my greatest challenge...it appears I'm not alone.

Very well said BJJ, I see that there are also intelligent people that reside in America too. I appreciate your opinion even if you just grunt. I too speak the language of grunt, mostly though with my children. smile

I'm with you Jim. I think you nay sayers are acting like a bunch of old fogies...and that's my job. The next new thing leads to the next new thing, etc. That's progress. Joe isn't mandated to post his every move. He can decide when he wants to use it. This is powerful stuff, esp. among the younger fans, and we are trying to gain more favor with them. If I ever "get a life" I may jump into the Twitter community. For now I'm still trying to figure out how to better use myspace and facebook.  Cyber Challenged, Cathy

Jim, it'll take more than this to get me worked up big_smile

Now then Jim me old mate, I have to take issue with something...."In the UK Joe is on one of the few radio broadcast stations in the country." Do a little more homework my friend. I know we are just a drop in the ocean in more ways than one but I promise there are more than a few radio stations in the UK.

And if you're fed up with the joke then don't read the post. I'm fine with anyone who wants to use whatever to keep in touch even though I find it a bit anal and flavour of the month (those two statements don't go well together do they!!!!). I don't think it's in the book of rules that we can't be lighthearted on this forum and take the 'P' a little bit, even in gentle jest, is it? Or are you going to make me stand on the 'naughty step' until I calm down tongue

I went to Wikipedia and looked up the BBC and yes there are a few National stations and many local ones. Having never been I can only speculate what TV and Radio are like there. That will change soon. It still is vastly different than how our radio airwaves are controlled.

I would put you on the naughty step but you would probably get off when I wasn't looking. Yes there is nothing in the rules about being funny here. I did think the Twit and Twat was very funny the first couple of times.

Dino's first post was hard to figure out what he was talking about since he quoted somebody else. He later gave his reasons pro and others gave reason's con. Some just Twitted and Twatted.

This forum has always discussed Joe's promotion ideas long before there was a Street Team section. So the context of this post was in itself serious. Humor doesn't always translate but I understand yours. At least I think I do. So no bread pudding for you for a month for thinking I don't have a sense of humor. It is every bit as sick and twisted as others here.

I am however serious most of the time. I know fuddy duddy.

Glad you pointed this out Geoff, there are so many different radio stations in the UK. Yes there is only about 6 state owned ones, ie the BBC, but there are a huge varity of commercial stations, digital stations (such as Planet Rock). Printer media and of course the internet have been just as important, if not more so in the spread of knowledge of Joe and his music. smile
