Re: I'm Fed up with the F word nonsense so.....

I just purchased a VG Strat today!! I got it used at GC for $900. Its in excellent condition or like new. Im gonna have a ball with this baby the next few months. Just think. People are buying the Fender Road Worn products for $950 and I got this unbelievable Strat for $900. I think thats a much better deal!
I also have an ash body Strat, a 97 California Series Strat and a 52 RI Tele.

All my tears they fell like rain, cant you hear them falling?

I understand Joe's justifiable beef with Fender, which was a totally personal insult; but you CANNOT deny Fender's unquantifiable impact on music!!
Fenders are GREAT instruments! Joe, himself ,has done some unreal work on Fenders. Joe's playing  on a Strat is nowhere near a copy of the late great SRV. About the only thing in common they have is the 5 pentatonic scale notes that both of them use!

I LOVE Strats!! There .....I said it!!!

AND I love Joe's music!!:

Like peanut butter and chocolate..........the two CAN get along!!

My favorite is a Strat built from kit parts. I love that guitar to death. Everybody who plays it just loves it. Went a little cheap with the Jimmie Vaughan TexMex pickups, but you won't find a better pickup at around 30 dollars a pup.

I got an SRV sig strat and I'm borrowing a Blues Junior.

I agree... I see Joe's stance... but I like the way my srat sounds.

Yeah, I also love my Fender with two humbuckers which are switchable to single coils - but they're no longer produced...
OK, I also like playing a Les Paul or a PRS or... or... roll , but Fender isn't that bad, they build great guitars!

Re: I'm Fed up with the F word nonsense so.....

I built a replica of my first guitar, an olympic white/maple neck strat '73 out of fender japanese parts. I did it more for sentimental reasons than anything else, and while the guitar looks and feels great I just don't play much electric anymore.
I used to play the original out of an ampeg reverberocket dimed with an eletroharmonix fuzz. It was Smokin.....

WELL SAID!!!

"Don't burn down that bridge, you just might wanna come back" - Joe Bonamassa

I promise to quit the F bashing as of now...totally understand Joes view though!

I have two Strats and a Tele(and a few LPs including a JB Goldtop)...All American models modified (Fralins, Kinmans, RSGuitar components, Sperzels, etc)...love all 3 and play all 3 regularly.

Fender guitars are really the "workhorses" of the industry...some may disagree, but I feel the Les Pauls are simply thouroughbreds(at least the "good ones")..

With all that said...certain songs beg for a good Strat or Tele, certain songs MUST have a Les Paul...

CURRENTLY: CAT5 JB PLEXI 50W, CAT5 1900 50W, Split 4x12 cab.
Fender Strat, Tele. Gibson LP including ole #174 JB Goldtop...

In heaven right now with the CAT5 rig!!!

I totally agree!! They are indeed the 'workhorses' of the industry! That's the way Leo wanted it!! Utilitarian all the way; well within the reach of the working man!

Re: I'm Fed up with the F word nonsense so.....

reissue 57 made in early 80's i think. dirty blond with maple neck. must have some shade of white under the blond, judging from the wear from my arm.   i know it was a really early reissue,   given to me by my father many years ago.     also have a custom strat i put together, honey burst with rosewood fretboard.  both guitars played through 64 vibroverm diaz model.

Re: I'm Fed up with the F word nonsense so.....

Great topic! I have a Fender Lone Star strat s/s/h , but I removed the humbucker and replaced the single coils (texas specials) with Kinmans and replace the humbucker (Duncan pearly gates) with a kinman single coil. Love it, but I would love to check out one of those closet classics.

Re: I'm Fed up with the F word nonsense so.....

I have an American made Fender Telecaster and it was the very first guitar I bought. When I picked her up the first time, I could feel that this was "my" guitar. I also bought a Fender Blues Jr. amp and for the money, I'm not sure there's a better product out there. Bought my son Ben a Squire (Fender product) Strat for Christmas with dual humbuckers. Drop the switch down to select them and you've got a sound that even mom would love. He prefers playing that over his PRS SE Singlecut which is a great guitar. Enough said.....here's a picture of a happy young man on Christmas morning:

Re: I'm Fed up with the F word nonsense so.....

There's just something about a strat's neck pup through a 5E3 tweed deluxe.  My #1 started out as a 2005 Am. Deluxe strat.  After a poly strip, nitro refin (relic'd), and a complete electronics overhaul, it's now a really worn in tone monster.

So not only am I a strat guy, I like relics!  How long till I get thrown out of this family?

Re: I'm Fed up with the F word nonsense so.....

Sometimes I listen to Blues Deluxe @ Rockpalast, or to a fan record Pain and Sorrow, or maybe to Are You Experienced?, and I think thats a sound which can't be replaced by any other guitar.

Definately the F's are another kind of electric guitars, and they have there own sound, but their sound isn't better or worser then other guitar styles sound, yeah, it's DIFFERENT.
I think this should be accepted wink

I like taking some humor in the whole incident, for a while there it was like mentioning the Chupacabra or something!  I love my Fenders and yes they do make great stuff especially the custom models.  Gibson, Fender, and Marshall forever!

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

Dear Ms. Eva,

When are you going to admit to everyone on this forum, that you too own a Squire (Fender product) Strat in red? smile You know, even Joe played Fender guitars at one time and he gave the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame "Goldie" for her retirement years. So I say, be proud of your Epiphone Les Paul, but also admit late at night you sneak off into a corner and play that Squire Strat very quietly. Shhhhhh.......the neighbors might hear and report you to Joe!! lol
