Honestly, pretty much anything with either Pacino or De Niro. I have a soft spot for old British Ealing comedies too. Michael Caine made more than a few good 'uns too...Get Carter (the original, not the crappy remake). Basically, there's too many to mention. How can you pick just one unless you've only seen a couple??? When you get to my age you've seen more than you can remember anyway and the one's you watch on DVD at home normally finish when your eyes close, your chin hits your chest and the dribble runs down your shirt.....and that's in the middle of the afternoon.

My favourite film?? I don't know.....I haven't seen them all yet wink

The're announcing the stars for the upcoming "Three Stooges" movie.....Jim Carrey would have been my choice for Moe....Benecio Del Torro are you kidding me!!!....I know Sean Penn is a perenial nominee for an oscar, but I dont see him as 'Larry'...well heres the link, you tell me

I've been getting into war movies lately...I saw Schindler's List, Platoon, and Apocalypse Now in the course of about 2 weeks. Next on my list is Hotel Rwanda and Shake Hands with the Devil.

I saw "Gran Torino" with Clint Eastwood the other day....seems he's bringing the asian culture forefront for all of us that dont understand the people....good for you Clint....I couldnt help but make the comparison with John Waynes final movie " The Shootist", I hope Clint's doing well, just worries me a bit

Loved Gran Torino, a very thought provoking movie.
As far as Clint's health, I hope he's doing well too.
He's one of those guys that just seems like they should live forever.

Just came home from watching Gran Torino and wow, what a great movie. I can just recommed to watch it for everyone who hasn´t seen it yet ... it´s funny, it´s provoking, it´s sad, it´s uplifting - just about everything! Go and see for yourself...

Here's one for mostly the guys that I pulled out of the video library to watch today. How about "Any Given Sunday"?

Major roles played by: Al Pacino, Dennis Quaid, Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, James Woods, Lawrence Taylor, LL Cool J, Mathew Modine, Ann Margaret and Jim Brown. Cameo appearances by Oliver Stone, Di*k Butkus, Johnny Unitas and Charlton Heston. Directed by Oliver Stone.

An American Football movie that's more about human nature and some of the ills of the game, than it is about Football. Always like to watch this one every once in a while. wink

Good film, I like it....but I think for football films (American that is) I prefer Friday Night Lights with Billy Bob Thornton. Having lived in the Deep South for over five years, I got to know, and understand what football meant to small town communities....and this film really paints a picture of that. Excellently filmed and acted, and some cool music in there too!!

Agreed Paul with your choice too, a very fine film! The real difference in the films are high school football versus professional football and what they show. "Any Given Sunday" was released in 1999, way before the steroid scandal that has hit all major sports. Had that been a hot topic at the time, I'm sure Oliver Stone would have touched on it in his film. What I really liked though is how he showed today's athletes as compared to yesterdays. A great scene in the movie is one where Coach D'Amato (Al Pacino) is talking about that very subject at a bar with his assistant coach Monroe (Jim Brown). They compare how "pure" the game was when they were players versus the current time. Jim Brown's character explains that's why he's leaving pro-ball to coach high school again, because of it's "purity". Just a great scene and one that can be easily overlooked as compared to the movie.

Just saw "The Boat that rocked" yesterday evening - it´s the best music-movie I´ve seen in years. Highly recommended for everyone who loves Rock´n´Roll music .... I promise you will walk out of the cinema with a big smile on your face! smile

Yes, I know that one - saw it on TV at 3 in the morning just a couple of weeks ago. It was good for watching it at 3 am, but too full of "Rockstar-clichees" for my taste. Did Mark Wahlberg actually sing ?
