Topic: Another great show for Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee......

Just a little over a month after Joe plays Tuner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee, another one of the world's finest guitarist will grace their stage. This was just announced today:

http://pabsttheater.org/_email/rock/jeffbeck/announce

I've been working with a couple of people associated with the Pabst Organization who manage The Pabst Theatre, Riverside Theatre and Turner Hall Ballroom, all located in Milwaukee. When I wrote them today indicating my delight over this announcement, the gentleman responded as, " It's gonna be a special show for sure. We're still pretty shocked it's reality. Looking forward to Turner Hall Ballroom becoming THE destination for Blues in Milwaukee."

Hmmmm let's see, James Cotton/Eddy Clearwater last Friday, Joe Bonamassa in March and now Jeff Beck in April. Yes, I think they have a pretty good start! smile

I'd like to ask for input into a decision that I have to make.. As I mentioned above, Jeff Beck is going to play the Turner Hall Ballroom on Saturday April 18th. I have never seen him live and he has always been one of the top on my list to see. When I go to a show, I really like to actually see the person playing along with enjoying the sound of their music. The only way to do this for this show is to pay the $125.00 per ticket, which I thought was origannly $150.00, to get the VIP Cabaret seating. This is a rather large sum of money considering how much other performers charge. My sister has agreed to go with me to the show even though she has no idea who Jeff Beck is. Although, at 69 years young, she has had a blast with me at such shows as Joe's, BDS, Eric Sardinas, Walter Trout, Greg Koch etc.

For almost the same price as one ticket to see Jeff Beck, my wife and I are seeing Bonnie Raitt and Jonny Lang together at even a smaller venue. My question that I have, is Jeff Beck worth the price of admission to this show?

I'd appreciate anyone with an opinion......Thanks.

150 to see a 'Living Legend' is justifiable in my book. Once in a lifetime thing. You just hope that the real deal turns up on the night and he smokes the place. Then it leaves a great feeling. I'm not sure if for that money I would take along someone who is not an 'afficianado' of Beck.

Could work out great, but if its an off night for Beck, then 250 dollars down would leave a real sour taste in the memory. Only seen him one time myself with Tim Bogart and Carmine Appice and he didn't disappoint. Seem to recall thinking I tinnitus for a coupla days after though.

I'd have to say yes too Roy. Am going to see him myself over here in a couple of months, and I'm expecting it to be one of those once in a lifetime gigs. He's a legend and doesnt come out that often at all...so you need to see him while you can. My Dad's the big Beck fan in my family.....but I think he's a true visionary and is out there on his own as far as I'm concerned, and I cant wait to see him in the flesh.

Have you watched any of the Live from Ronnie Scotts video footage yet? Here's a few of my favourites if you haven't. The DVD of the concert is available to buy at the end of March.

Hey, thanks guys for the opinions and thanks Paul for the videos. Still tossing it around, but I have until high noon today, that's when the ticket pre-sale starts.

Thanks again!

Roy,

I would gladly buy the second ticket off you and go with you if your not sure about spending that much to take the Sis. I have always wanted to see jeff Beck but I know it is not the kind of show my wife will sit quietly through.

Hmm. Considering he's not going to be playing Nashville...maybe it's time to take a trip to see the inlaws near Milwaukee big_smile

Re: Another great show for Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee......

Hey guys,

Well, I bit down on the bullet and sprung for the $125 per ticket plus about $20 in service charges per ticket. As Rev. Paul and I discussed over the phone tonight, the only sitting area was the VIP area which is in one of the balconies. I would have gone with GA, but that meant standing in line and standing for the show too. My sister has a bad back and she just couldn't do that, so I'll be sitting, but in the balcony. But hey, it's all good because I'm seeing a living legend that I've never seen before. Something to tell the grandkids about someday. That is, if I live that long. wink

Roy

P.S. See You and Cathy there Rev. Paul! smile

Got my $65.00 tickets with almost $35.00 extra fees including postage. I think Turner Hall is going to have competition with Times Cinema on Vliet for place to see the blues. Last Friday was Honeyboy Edwards. Next month(3/14) Magic Slim and the Teardrops. All weekend shows, All $15.00 tickets with slight postage fee for tickets only. Check them out!
