Topic: Tornado Alley

Just another day in Torando Alley. Of course we don't usually worry about them until May. Yesterday was pretty interesting.

The track was a mile and a half NW of my house but right over my sister in law where a tree was uprooted and roof damage sustained. She was blown into their strom shelter. It touched down again a mile away.

Ditto from me also!  The winds are starting to howl here in Indiana.

Re: Tornado Alley

The finger of God.

Years back  in Miami, I was fishing in my little putt putt and I saw a storm blow up.  I hauled butt out of the canal I was sitting in with my white faced friend.  There were twisters in the bottom of that mess.

3 minutes later my buddy gets this panic look and points behind me.  Here's a drug busting marine patrol boat bearing down on me.  They pull up after I broke it down and said, "Oh it's you!  What the hell you doing coming out of the woods like that?"

I said, "...running from that twister!" and pointed behind them.  They both turned, looked and said:  "You're on your own, Flaco!"  and waked me as they were leaving.  We outran it across the bay, Thank God.

Not even the DEA will fight with a waterspout or twister of any kind.

As Van Morrison plays "and it stoned me" in the background. "Oh the water, Oh the water...."

We're forecasted for several inches of rain tonight with flood warnings. We were flooded out a few years ago. I'm sure we'll be pumping out the basement of this old house tomorrow.

Hey Jeff aka Flaco. You didn't ever live in Tampa on South MacDill by any chance?

Re: Tornado Alley

The incredible power and force of nature is an awesome thing alright. I have been looking at the footage of the fires in Australia and they are certainly suffering too right now. It seems unbelievable that people should be setting these fires deliberately. It's not like nature needs a helping hand when the weather conditions are so favourable anyway to this kind of disaster.

I feel a little guilty right now as here in Germany things are pretty mild. I wish you guys in the front line of nature all the best right now.

I know nothing. I see nothing.

Shall we call you Schultz too?

Re: Tornado Alley

Not a lot of rhyme or reason to weather patterns any more. It's like mother nature has a new agenda and it appears she's pissed off. Twisters were unheard of here in Cali., but have occurred numerous times in the past 3-4 years mostly in the central valley. Then again everybody that's been through a quake always has that notion in the back of our minds too. As much as we were enjoying the spring like weather a few weeks ago it's finally raining and not supposed to let up for a week or more, the drought may be avoided yet.

I've never been so worried driving like I did in May of 2000....that F-5 in Moore missed us by 20 miles...give me an earthquake and I'll call it even God yikes
