Topic: Dr Z. Brake Lite

I just installed one of these in my 45 watt Budda amp last night (in about 3 minutes) and played around with it a bit. So far I'm very impressed.

The attenuation steps are:
0 = 0 dB (bypassed)
1 = 2 dB
2 = 5 dB
3 = 8 dB
4 = 11 dB

2X the power output = +3 dB increase (eg. the difference between 100 and 50 watts is 3dB).

So my 45 watt amp set on 3 is as about as loud as a 17 watt amp and on 4 as loud as a 12 watter.

There is a noticeable difference in loudness for each step, with no difference in tone that I can notice. It's convenient to have it mounted in the cabinet, with one less thing to carry around and plug in.
So if you have a too loud tube amp combo, or want to crank it to the sweet spot without going deaf, you may want to check it out. It's also a lot cheaper than buying a smaller amp for quieter situations.

You can also mount it on a piece of plywood or metal if you want it to be portable or use with a head/cab.

Very nice Ken. I've used an Airbrake on and off with my Maz 38 for a while now. I tend to not use it if I can help it but it comes in handy sometimes.  The Brakelite looks like an improvement - much less bulky.
