That is actually a A-B-C splitter that he uses to use to select between the three amps he switches between. Those three are the Van Weeldon, Two Rock and the Category 5. The Silver Jubilee (Marshall) stays on all the time.

No , you write about his Lehle 1@3, but theres also a little "Whirlwind A/B-Switch" on his board, its coloured black, with purple
letters, on the picture its left above over his Lehle switch!
I think (and that's not saying much) that the Jubilee goes into the Whirlwind A/B, always on. Then, from there the signal goes to the Lehle ABC selector. The Lehle allows him to blend which ever amp then with just one press of his foot. So, Whirlwind with Jube always on then Lehle toggles between the remaining 3...oww my head hurts! (Joe just needs to quit messing around and get the VoodooLab Amp Selector hehehe)
At this picture http://www.guitarmessenger.com/sites/in … assa/2.jpg you can see that the ts808 goes into the Whirlwind, then the Signal B goes into the Lehle switch, but whats up with Output A????? I think his signal for his Silver Jub and the other amps is already splitted up, and the silver Jub has nothing to do with the whole board - except the DD3.
Anybody got an idea ?!?!
The Lehle Outputs are marked as A,B,C, and the Whirlwind output A ios marked as D, its another output, but for what?
Ok, he could mute all amps except the Silver Jub, but would that make sense?
Sorry for the misunderstanding. Stratpaulguy is correct though. The whirlwind is split A to the Silver Jubilee and B to the Lehle A-B-C splitter with both outbuts always on. I dont believe their is a spot to split to the Marshall before this point. The Boss Delay goes in the effects loop of the Marshall and thats it. A very simple but elegant setup.

Having studied that photo for a while I've come to the conclusion that Joe uses the Whirlwind in a different way from the labels. I reckon the guitar signal goes into the B output (from the Vox Wah), The jubilee is connected to the A output and the input or at least the socket labeled input loops around through 180 and back to the TS808 then the Carb and then to the Lehle 1@3. It seems strange but I have a Whirlwind A/B and just tried it, it works, and now I think I know why. By setting the Whirlwind to A then hitting the Both switch everything is connected to everything else i.e A, B and 'Input' are all connected to each other. Hit the Both switch again and B (the guitar input in Joe's setup) is isolated from both the Jubilee AND the Lehle switcher and therefore whichever amp the Lehle is set too.. Using the Whirlwind in the conventional (as labeled)sense one output is always on and therefore it can't be used as an isolation switch. Makes Sense? I know Joe uses Neutrik silent jacks for guitar changes but having a complete disconnection with one button is smart. The whirlwind doesn't have any transformers to prevent earth loops so doesn't really have an input and output in the electronic sense I guess.

Pete59,
That was an awesome analysis and a very interesting idea to be able to mute (with isolation from the amps) from a passive splitter. Very nice....Now let add my 2 cents. Assuming that his cables haven't been cannibalised it appears that the cable end coming from the B output (which appears to be a Monster Cable with the red stripe) matches the cable on the input of the Lehle. Also the output of the TubeScreamer appears to be running to the input of the Whirlwind. I think Joe is just running straight and regular. Who's right??? Who knows. Joe is still the man!!

What a great idea!! Could be truely right!
But that means that the output signal of the original "input" of the A/B switch leads through the output of the ts808, from the input of it to the output of the gas pedal, and then into the lehle??
This is an older picture http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/452/ … ngqk9.jpg, but I think thats the right wiring - except that the gas and the ts808 pedals can be used in both directions?!
Does anyone here have newer pictures of Joe's Board?
