Fifty years since the day the music died.  The memorial for Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, the Big Bopper and the Pilot is currently the background on my computer.  I've stayed a number of summers with relatives at an old motel adjacent to the Surf Ballroom.  What a cool place and still in operation.  I mentioned this anniversary last night after hearing about the break-up of Back Door Slam.  Like the Crickets, BDS's rhythm section finally tired of the tour grind.
