Check this out, I test drove one this week at guitar center with a vintage fender strat american, and a PRS, and that little amp is wicked. Starting with the blending knob, the 6v6 side allowed for a little more clarity and the highs and mids stood out brilliantly. Switching over to the el84 side brought out the bottom end and gave it a grittier sound. The tones you can get out of this little monster are almost unending. The gain is insane and the sustain is to blame. The bright switch does as intended, brighten up the sound, the tight switch takes to another level allowing for muddier, deeper lows. One of the sweetest sounds I have ever heard out of a tube amp. This amp is definatley a winner. What I did find dissappointing was the wattage selector knob. It didn't really increase/decrease volume like I thought it would, the 1 watt setting was almost as loud as the 20 watt setting, differences seemed to be in the headroom, not the volume. Great amp, great tones, reasons why i didn't purchase, could not afford to purchase for $599 + $249 for 1x12 cab, that by the way sounded awesome. I believe it is loaded with a 12" custom celestion speaker. Total price, $850 + tax for amp and cabinet, close to $1,000. Also, only one channel. Just too much for what I would get in return, but if money is no object, I think I would probably test drive the new two channel, rebel 30 with added reverb. That will be my next test drive. I do know this, if total price for said items are close to or over $1,000, i'm in over my head for a practice amp.
