Topic: Sacrifice for Tone

I was on this SRV forum one time and there was this guy who seemed to know all the answers except he was not the expert he really thought he was, so I wrote in and told them how to really get SRV's tone, and the guy wrote back and said, yea I guess if you have like $10,000.00 laying around. Well I got a little peeved, like I was some rich kid or something. So I wrote back and and this is what I stated. Look while you and your buddies are out on Friday night eating Buffalo Hot Wings and Drinking Coronas, I am at home eating .29 a lb Chicken quarters and drinking Ice Tea, because real musicians know how to sacrifice for their tone. It takes alot of sacrifice to get the tone you really need, and the sound gear you really need, so start sacrifing now, don;t go to the music store and rent stuff that sucks in the first place, people come into my music store all week long and want to rent, if your such  dedicated musician learn how to sacrifice, SRV slept on pool tables at the bar he played at and emptied the garbage and mopped the floors for food, but he had the best equipment, never had a dime in his pockets back in those days as I remember, but he did have tone. Sincerely, Big B

Hi BIGBSMILES.

Enjoyed your message.  You made your point crystal clear and the word 'sacrifice' will, I believe, become the buzzword for the next couple of years.  Tone = substance!
