Topic: Re: APRIL & MAY 2009 UK GIGS

Hello too all,
The question I would like answered is that I' ve got tickets for the 28th april 2009 sheffield city hall gig and tickets for the RAH 6 days later. Joe said that the RAH will have a big band feel to it and he said he's always wanted to do that. So will the sheffield gig or any of the other gigs at the end of April in the UK have this big band or will these shows just before RAH be Joe and his bands normal setup(Joe-guitar/vocals, drums, bass, keyboard)

I'm hoping its normal setup for sheffield and then the big band thing just for RAH.

I was at manchester academy gig 17th november 2008, I was stood front and center and Joe was unbelievable. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing in front of me. Joe's guitar playing was just way beyond what I could have imagined possible and his vocals where the icing on the cake. Half way through this gig I knew I was watching the greatest guitar player of all time. After the gig Joe kindly shook my hand, signed my ticket and had a photo with me.  I can't wait for the next gigs and many more Joe Bonamassa gigs for many years to come.  Keep going strong Joe

Hi Adam and welcome to the forum.
At a guess I think The Albert Hall show will be a one off and the shows prior to it will be of a usual format, if you know what I mean.
I must have seen you at Manchester, I too hung around after the show in the cold drizzle with Geoff and Sue, Libby and John and Anne and got a couple of fliers signed. It was a great show but then they all are!
See you in May

Yes Tripsy, I did see you after the gig when we was waiting around to see if Joe was still there.    You asked me if I'd been to a Walter Trout gig, to which I haven't, you thought I looked like someone from then

Re: Re: APRIL & MAY 2009 UK GIGS

Hi Adam and welcome. There is a rumor that Joe will perform a few dates prior to the RAH with horns, etc. as a warm-up to the RAH. That makes sense to me. Don't worry..I don't think it's going to be an overwhelming horn/string experience. Just tasty bits added for flavor..should be yummy!!    Cathy

Ah yes Adam, I remember you!
Memory starts to fail when you get to my age hmm
About the gigs, I had forgotten Joe's comments about playing with the eight piece for the week before the RAH. It makes sense though, Joe is going to want the Albert Hall gig to go without a hitch. We will be seeing him at the Sage show which is the one rescheduled from last Nov and the first of the run, can't wait!
I'm sure you needn't worry about the 'Big Band' thing. Trust in Joe's judgement smile

Re: Re: APRIL & MAY 2009 UK GIGS

Hi Adam,

We must have met at the Manchester Gig too, Geoff and I were front and centre, at the front of the queue outside too.  We are going to be at Sheffield the week before the RAH so hope to meet up with you again.  We have had to pass on our tickets for the re-scheduled Sage concert in Gateshead which were 2nd row centre - what a bummer but we are both away until 27th April on our hols.  Not long now, we cannot wait for our next Joe concert.

Rock on and keep the faith!!

Welcome to the forum Adam.
Many of us here had the same reaction when we first saw Joe live...the greatest guitar player ever.
Been hooked ever since and my opinion hasn't changed.
