Re: The Role of the Blues Foundation

Sorry to come so late to the party....A year ago I would have echoed all the comments I've read. Jay S. was on the BluesCruise last year and I was able to give him an earfull...don't know that it mattered, but it felt good. I've also stopped trying to get the Baltimore Blues Society to change...same Pres. for years because he knows how to write grant requests..the main source of funding. But, I also belong to the Delaware Society and they are much more progressive, and BluesRock friendly.
BITS...Joe is to be hailed for his work. They never helped him out..he just keeps at it because he believes in legacy. That is the one bright star from the BF this year. The inclusion of a youth category for this year's IBC's is exciting. I'm certain I'll hear at least one "rocker"..Tallan L.. I think Scott could set up school events on his own, just like Joe..don't need to call it BITS...just a thought...If you check the BITS section at the Foundation, you will see they have left this to the chapters. Some are doing amazing work. Props to them.
Blues/Rock is slowly gaining acceptance and will no doubt be a big part of the future..I really believe that...

Having said all that, I understand how irrelevant the Foundation is to Joe fans and I can't argue the point.          Cathy
