I know that they were together, but I don´t know anything about G.P.´s death. Where to read about it?
Günter
Emmylou and a bunch of Gram's friends 'stole' his body from the family and cremated it in the desert. You and I are going to have a lot to talk about in London, Gunter! Little Feat, Gram Parsons and Bratwurste for starters.
I love 'Cousin Shredthro', nice one Shreddy!
J Dawg - without going to Wikipedia, I think their collaboration on 'Return of the Grievous Angel' pre-dates the Burrito Bros, and I believe they were already lovers then.

It's possible G Dawg. Here's some reference material

There's info on the connection between Gram & Emmylou at this site too.
you are right dawg but I still like alot of it but I do know the state of the radio and cmt and stuff makes my experience limited. how about lending me some of those cassettes i still have a player or ten. yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
p.s. you are wrong about the hats though, very wrong
It's not so much right or wrong as personal preference.........is that a better choice of words?
Happy New Year,
J Dawg
I don't listen to much of the crapola coming out of Nashville - sounds like watered down Pop music. Most of the good Country music these days is coming out of Texas and Oklahoma. Some recommendations: Stoney LaRue, Cross Canadian Ragweed, No Justice, Reckless Kelly, Jason Boland & the Stragglers, Kieran Kane, Kevin Welch & Fats Kaplin, Ryan Adams, Jimmy LaFave and especially Teddy Thompson's UpFront & Down Low album. And that's just the boys. If you find any of interest I'll add the Country women in another post.
Check out everyone on the first video, and also Jerry Reed, Danny Gatton just to name a few....

All 3 are from the new Brad Paisley album. These songs are great - the first is a great jam with a bunch of country pickin's finest, the second is a tribute to Eric Johnson, and the third Fts. the King himself, BB King.
trust me on this. it is actually singer/songwriter americana type, but the album you can't save everybody by kieren kane and kevin welch with fats kaplan is the best thing to come out of nashville in years. many, many years. I have their third album as well. It is good but not up to the incredibly high standard set on ycse. i asked for their second for xmas but did not get it.
pop/greed/easily digestible garbage, whatever you want to call itl has done what it can to ruin country same as rock, like people are saying. look at robert earl keen though he is really good too. that is for newer. im really not one to ask for older, but i have been listening to tons of townes van zandt lately. he is amongst the songwriters i consider bordering perfection. live at the old quarter is just him and an acoustic and one of the best albums ive ever heard. cowboy junkies lament is a really good later song, the labum it is from no deeper blue is top notch all the way through. you have to respect the bleak though.
Hank williams III has some good material though it gets a little reptitive

James McMurtry is probably my favorite musician going today taking in all accounts. he is a townes van zandt disciple but gets really rockin with his guitar at times. not country per se, but better than absolutely everything you will hear on your country radio station. top notch lyrics set to really really good music and he knows how to play. can't recommend him highly enough.
driveby truckers southern rock opera is definitely southern rock and not country but if you like country youll like the album.
ryan bingham also has this album out called mescalito that i'd recommend.
David Allan Coe "If that ain't country You can kiss my $@"#! "

He wrote THE PERFECT C&W song as well as up against the wall you redneck mothers. DAC wrote Take This Job, but Johnny Paycheck sang it, his biggest hit.
Think Green,
J Dawg
He wrote THE PERFECT C&W song
I have lost him since many years, but I remeber now that he was one of my favourites. I used to own a lot of DAC-LPs (and seem to have sold them in a somewhat dark state of mind.)
