Topic: Hello and thank you

Hello to everyone.  I've recently received from a member here a copy of "Live from Nowhere in Particular" and it's fantastic, so I was prompted to check out this forum.  Very cool.

I'm in the U.S. Navy and I'm floating around in the Middle East.  There is an organization called Operation Gratitude, through which many folks have sent generous gifts to deployed troops, airmen and sailors.  I received the CD through them from Patty, who you can see in pictures on this site winning the gold top Les Paul.

Anyway, the CD was sent at random to a friend of mine, who opened the package and said, "who's Joe Bonamassa?"

"He's a blues/rock guitarist," I told him.

"Oh, well, here you go," he said, handing me the CD.  "I don't like blues."

Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I grabbed the CD and ran to the nearest CD player, and it hasn't left the player since.

So, with a bit of luck, and thanks to the generosity of fans, I've got some great new music to listen to out here.  I've been playing guitar since I was 7, and I love this stuff.  We have jams and open mic nights out here occasionally, so I'm learning some of these songs to play the next time I get a chance to participate.

Anyway, it's back to work for me, but thank you anyone who has sent a CD out...it's a fantastic morale booster...and I wish everyone a happy new year.

A Les Paul is so easy to play, it will make you a better player.  A Telecaster will make you better because it's so difficult. wink

Re: Hello and thank you

LT - great to have you on board but so great to hear how you came about LFNIP. Patty is a star. We'd be interested to know what your mate thought after he'd given the CD away and then heard what he's missing! Good job by the way, you and your buddies are very much appreciated!

Re: Hello and thank you

Welcome aboard the Joe Bonamassa Forum LT!!!  Imagine that...... I just said welcome aboard to a Navy man!!!  I'm just so THRILLED to hear from you!!!  I think this has to be my favorite all time Introduction!!!!

WOW!!!!  How exciting is THIS??!!!  Patty is just going to be thrilled, as will the rest of the members of the Forum.  I am SO happy to hear that LFNIP landed in YOUR hands.  Clearly, it was meant to BE.  If you hang around here long enough, you'll discover that MAGICAL things like that seem to happen with great frequency around here.  YOU are gonna have that whole ship converted into big ol' blues fans by the time you're through with your tour of duty.  I don't have a DOUBT in my mind.

I hope that you'll participate here, and post often.  Some pretty special people hang out here, and I think we just had another join our ranks..... YOU!!!  You'll also be happy to know that Joe himself pops in from time to time.  He posts all over the place, but answers LOTS of questions in the Gear Section.

THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR YOU ARE DOING, EVERY DAY FOR US!!!  Please know how much you are appreciated, and thought of, and prayed for.  Bless you LT.

ALL best wishes to you and your shipmates,

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Dear LT,

I am so pleased to see you here!  wink  I was hoping you were able to find your way on.  I just think it is so cool how the nature of things works out in life.  Of course, that CD was meant for you via your friend.  I wish we could see you perform the Joe songs on open mic night.  And I know we all pray for you & your shipmates safety. You have been on my mind since your first email to me.  I would be so honored to get to meet you someday and thank you personally for your service to our country and the world.  Now carry on LT and welcome to the big wonderful family of Joe Bonamassa ?

Well, that I can make happen through the magic of video. :-)  You'll notice a distinct lack of drums and bass, unfortunately.

Thanks to all for your kind words.
