Get Vegas for unsigned bands with no release. Hopeing for something on cd from them this year.

Also expecting big things for the Answer this year.

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

Re: Got one band on your 2009 radar?

Re: Got one band on your 2009 radar?

I dunno if ti would be possible for me to pick one big_smile

I got tickets for AC/DC in Dublin in April, Joe at RAH in May then Jeff Beck in Belfast in June. Three legends right there.

I suppose If i had to pick one it would be the AC/DC, as I've seen Joe a good few times before and I've always wanted to see AC/DC since I was 12.

Good job i don't have to choose though big_smile

Cheers,
Matt

I'd love to see The Answer headline their own show to enjoy the whole "enchilada".

Re: Got one band on your 2009 radar?

The Answer -Their upcoming album 'Everyday Demons'  is likely to make these Irish rockers stars.

Ryan McGarvey -Just wait until you hear his second album. If you think his first was good...look out.

Back Door Slam -See above.

Mad Shadow -These young Canucks have channeled the spirit of 70's rock perfectly. Zeppelin meets Soundgarden meets Cream. With a bit more seasoning (expected as none are even 21) they are going to be a monster act, both on record and live.

Glyder -Yet another hard rockin' Irish band who have been making serious waves overseas. Their second album, 'Playground For Life' showed them moving a bit further from being heavily Thin Lizzy influenced, and closer towards establishing their own sound. As the album was one of the finest I heard all of 2008, I'm looking forward to the next one with anticipation.

Jaded Sun - Another astonishing debut. What's in the water in Ireland these days? First The Answer, then Glyder....and now this band, whose 'Gypsy Trip' was hailed by many critics as one of the finest debuts of the decade. If this is the beginning, this is one trip I'm looking forward to. Without those pesky flashbacks wink

Oh GEEEEEEEEZ you guys!!!!  Like I don't have enough on my plate already with everyone I've been introduced to since I got here!!!!  Now you're gonna go throw a bunch of NEW possibilities at me!!!  Oh boy.  How will I fit everyone IN???  I'm having trouble keeping up as it is!!!!  Hmmmm.......

Meanwhile, beyond plans for our favorites, we're just trying to take them as they come..... we're seeing David Lindley next week and Eric Johnson for the first time in 10 days ...... I have the feeling it's gonna be another banner year.

Re: Got one band on your 2009 radar?

We actually already have plans to see quite a few great bands in 2009.

We'll be seeing Jonny Lang in February. FREE SHOWS.  One at the Clearwater Sea Blues Festival and the next day at the Blues B-Q in Orlando.

And for the first time we're going to the Wanee Festival in Live Oak, FL in April.  I'm really excited about this. The lineup has not been confirmed, but if it's anything like the last two years,  we're gonna see many amazing bands including The Allman Brothers, The Derek Trucks Band, Gov't Mule and Soul Stew Revival w/Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi.

http://www.waneefestival.com/

That's it so far...   I'm excited about all of them.   Sorry I can't pick just one.  hmm

Susan wink

Re: Got one band on your 2009 radar?

Shreddy,

Stoney Curtis is mine too but was already in 2005 and 2006
I saw the Rockpalastshow on TV and recorded it on DVD. Impressed my right away! Sent a copy to Michael and he was blown away too.Great you heard it from him again. That's the way we promote Joe too.
If you want a copy give your address on my email and I'll send you one too.

You should go to a liveshow whenever you can, saw him in Schoeppingen last year and topnotch!
Spoke to him after the show and a very nice guy too, like Joe!!

Then I go for Albert Cummings too. Really would love to see him live, hope he can come to Europe this year.

Those three: Joe, Stoney and Albert are the new hopes for the blues to me!

Re: Got one band on your 2009 radar?

My one for 2009 is Jay Tamkin, following on the heels of Back Door Slam and Oli Brown, the Jay Tamkin Band are an up and coming rock blues band from Torquay who over the course of the last 18 months have toured the UK, Europe and The US. They have been snapped up by German label ROKOKO/In-akustik & the new CD will be released in Feb 09 to coincide with a tour in March with HAWKWIND.

Jay Tamkin is a funky rock blues guitarist who like so many is influenced by SRV, Walter Trout and Hendrix, but at barely 20 years old, and is a hot shot guitarist who is on the way up.  In the last 2 years he and his band opened for the likes of Ian Parker, Ian Siegal, Nine Below Zero, Sherman Robertson, Roy Ayers, MAN, Danny Bryant, POPA CHUBBY and Stan Webb's CHICKEN SHACK.

Jay’s debut album “Sorted” will be released in February 2009. Apparently the album will feature “an ecletic mix of songs” all written by Jay and will combine “Jay’s original rock style with twelve-bar blues, latin acoustic, up-tempo blues and haunting slower blues including the song, “I Remember When”.

Thanks to this site ... Back Door Slam.

I'll continue to watch the websites of the venues around here. I keep hoping that Kubik & King will come here again.
