No, its just one of those pop up windows...did what you said, uninstalled it then reinstalled it and I'm still getting the same thing.  Guess it wasn't meant to be! lol

That is strange.  Are you loading the newest version?  What OS are you running?

Yes, I think it's the 3.0 something version, and I have Vista.

Someone told me maybe I need to try an older version, but I'm not sure if I should try it or not.

I have to say though Chrome IS better than IE.  With IE it kept freezing up on me, and having to close out the window.  I thought it was my computer which is fairly new.  Since I've been using Chrome it hasn't happened once.

Chrome is MUCH better than IE.   The version of Firefox you should be trying to DL is 3.0.5.  Does your computer have any kinda of administrator only type protection?

Yes, that's the version I was trying to get...and I don't think there's any admin protection.  I'm going to see if I can email someone with Firefox and see if they have any ideas.  I'm really interested in trying it.  Meanwhile I'm totally loving Chrome, what a difference!

Thanks for starting this topic.  I think I must live in a cave.  Firefox is awesome - I can't believe how much faster it is.

glad that you got hooked up. Wish Mindy was able to share in the action!  Did you hook up a bunch of cool add ons?

Re: Internet Explorer is Unsafe ... Still

Firefox is the only way to go. One bummer for me though is that since upgrading to FF3 the plug-in that allows you to download youtube clips doesn't work (yes, I've searched, there isn't one yet).

Unfortunately, it does still work with IE, so when I want to download anything from youtube I have to use IE until there's a new  plug-in for FF. I have always kept IE6 because I simply didn't like IE7 at all - imagine my surprise when I opened IE for the first time in months to discover that one of the "important" updates MS had installed for me was IE7  mad

Re: Internet Explorer is Unsafe ... Still

Apple's Safari for PC is great as well, also Google's Chrome internet browser (Vista only)

if you can't get Firefox to work, for whatever awkward reason, I'd really suggest downloading the above instead of going back to Internet Explorer.

I wish I could too, I deleted it then d/l it several times but no luck getting it to run yet.  I found a few help sites, haven't found a solution yet but did see that other people are having the same problem as I am.

Re: Internet Explorer is Unsafe ... Still

Hmm...that sucks.  The only times I've heard of folks having problems is if they are running a script blocker of some kind, a administrator access type of blocker or maybe some kinda of drive error on your computer that causes files to not download fully.

Are you able to load other software with out any problems?

Re: Internet Explorer is Unsafe ... Still

I've never had a problem with any other downloads/software of any kind. I gave up on it for now, I'd wind up banging my head against the wall if I kept trying to figure it out.   I may try that Apple one, not sure yet...meanwhile Chrome has been working great for me.  Thanks for the help! smile
