Anybody out there care? Bueller? Bueller?
I posted on this topic a few weeks ago, and there were also no reponses back then. Guess there is no love for DTB (only kidding)....
Derek and co. posted a video of the making of the album on their website, and the first single is already available for download on itunes.
looking forward to the album's special guests Susan Tedeschi, Oteil Burbridge and Doyle Bramhall II!
Interestingly, I had to take note of the lines "Known for their blues roots, the group takes this album well beyond blues to incorporate the largers sounds of rock and soul". Sounds like somebody else I knows' direction of uh, prior to lately, hmm? Post Katrina flood references , ditto. Also the Itunes download idea is a smart promo tool in my book of tricks !
And, yes I do have love & do indeed enjoy Derek Trucks, I just don't get around to every post much (I guess I mean easily! considering the volume these days) like I used to anymore.
Rock On & Keep the Faith.

I love Derek Trucks, in special "Live at Georgia Theatre" and the stuff he´s playing on the Crossroads DVD.

I guess I missed this the first couple times around. Absolutely looking forward to it! Thanks for the reminder.
Thanks for the heads up Deezer. Derek Trucks is in my top 3 of favorite living guitarists... truly an amazing talent... and Mike Mattison's voice is just simply incredible. Can't wait for this one!

Our NYE tradition is to see DTB-STB in Atlanta every year. It's still within a reasonable price range. And you get about 5 hours of music from start to finish.
I always like to see what Derek is going to do on cd. But it's nothing like seeing him live.
And if you're a Mike Mattison fan, check out Scrapomatic! Actually, they almost always open for Derek.
You think I wasn't in hog heaven last NYE with Scrapomatic, then North Mississippi Allstars, then Derek and Susan... whew!
I wish there were more shows to catch like that. There could be so many good blues shows with many combinations of bands.
We caught Joe in Birmingham this past year at City Stages. Ironically the next night was pretty much a "blues" night of sorts. It would have been even more perfect if he'd gone on right before Buddy Guy, or right after.

Dude I care...the best band I've ever seen live in this frickin cowtown...wish they would come back...all them cats he has are world class...I got 3 of his albums...which reminds me, I got stuff I still havent listened too

I saw them last month out by me - I've seen them before, but this time they were on FIRE. They played some new stuff and it was just fantastic. I'll see them anytime they come around.
Ben
PS - I love when he covers those Derek and the Dominos tunes too .
Good news for UK Derek Truck fans is they will be playing at the London blues and roots festival in April. Hope they play a few more dates further more too!
I'm really looking forward to this record. He posted this video on Myspace a while back about he and the band making this record. It's pretty cool.

Duncan, do you have a link to the dates and venue for the London Blues and Roots Festival. I can't find anything with a google. I don't know Derek Trucks solo work but his playing with ABB is enough to make me want to see him. I'll have to order the new CD.
Here ya go Wooders. A little DTB primer:

I've been hanging on to an HMV gift voucher to get a copy of this. Us unemployed folks have to pick and choose our purchases

Sorry Phil, no I don't, it has not been publically announced yet, I was told by Alan (you know the one...) You'll enjoy Derek's solo work through!
Just saw the ATL Soul Stew show and they both did several songs of their new CDs. They were all fantastic. More roots blues, at least the way they did them during the show. The title song of Derek's cd was fantastic. We've got Susan's and I haven't listened to it all yet. But it looks like they are both winners!!
It'll be an interesting release for sure. I'd have to say Derek's and Aynsley Lister's up coming albums are the two I'm looking forward to hearing the most. Playing in three bands can't be easy for the slide-guitar phenom, but with a new home studio and a renewed focus on Blues music, the sky's the limit.
