Topic: I saved it all up

So, as you know I have avoided mentioning my friend for a while now.  But, I must make an exception this one time, as it is significant for him.  I think you are all serious music people, and might just understand this.

Scott Holt is one of my best friends.  In the whole world.  I believe he is touched by God when he has a guitar in his hand, without one he is just another weird bald guy.

That being said, I am sure that some of you know about the Buddy Guy January shows.  Buddy and his million dollar road band stay in Chicago, and play 30 nights in a row.  These shows are massive, crowds fill up the place at noon.  It is amazing.

Well, Buddy has never really had openers for this, but this year he asked Scott and a few others to open the show.  It is a huge thrill for us.  It is just 1 night in January, for 1 hour or so, but BG is essentially Scott's step dad after their ten years on the road together, so it is a hugely emotional thing for Scott and his band.  But really just Scott.

So, if you are interested, go to ticketmaster, and buy a ticket for January 15th.  You can meet me, and see a son play with his blues father.

I am sorry to plug my friend, won't happen again for a while.

Glad to hear that too Dino. I've listened to some of Scott's work and I've been impressed with that I've heard. He also sent a greeting when I added him on myspace which was a nice touch. Hope the show goes well for him (sadly I'll be even further away than Jane!) and I'm sure Buddy will put on a great show too! smile

Re: I saved it all up

I've been to Buddy's January shows in the past and there have always been opening bands. Usaully an acoustic band at dinner time then an electric opening band (last time was 2 years ago and Devil in a Woodpile was the acoustic band and Carlos Johnson was the electric opener).

None the less congradulations to Scott for being picked as an opener.

Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

I did not know that Paul.

Re: I saved it all up

By the way I've been going lately and reading the backlog of Scott's blogs. Good stuff.

Dino,
I'll need to check my work schedule, but if I'm free, I will likely be there.
BG's is a 5 minute cab ride from my office...unfortunately, it's also an hour drive home from there.
