Topic: New from PA

Hey everyone, new member form PA here.

I was recently turned onto Joe and he quickly became one of my favorite guitar players.  I think I now have all the studio albums plus I just got LFNIP in the mail a few days ago!  Great stuff.  I also have tickets to a show in March.

Strangely (even before discovering this forum) my desire to buy a Les Paul has gone up since discovering Joe.  I am sort of a passive Fender guy.  I didn't set out to own more Fender's than anything else but it just so happened that my recent 3 guitars were.

I currently use:
Fender American Deluxe Ash Strat
G&L Semi-Hollow ASAT
Fender Mexican Tele (modified, the only original thing is the neck).
Samick ... the one with the Vine inlay like from 1999.  It's been upgraded with a Seymour Duncan JB & '59.

I run a Fender HotRod Deluxe for an amp but I only use the power section.  All my preamps come from a Boss GT-10 running into the FX return.

This forum looks like a cool place to hang out!

Re: New from PA

Welcome!! Is the show in March going to be your first???? Have fun!

Have fun.....Tripsy:)

Re: New from PA

Thanks!  And yeah, March will be my first Joe concert.  I am excited!  Front row!

As for the screenname, I've used it for AIM and forums for longer than I can remember so I just keep it smile

Re: New from PA

Welcome aboard. There are several rabid Joe fans in the Pittsburgh area. I'm sure you'll get acquainted with them soon enough.
The agony of having to wait wait 2 1/2 months to see Joe live is killing you, isn't it? wink

Guitar Center has been putting Les Pauls on sale - been knocking off about $300 just to move them. Now is the time to score one if you have the dosh I think. They also knock off some more for display axes (got my American Tele at GC for a song). If you go to look at them try out several amps too. There's something about a LP's voice that just needs a quality tube amp.

Major Tom to ground control...

You haven't seen Joe LIVE yet and you're a fan? That's cool!! Now I'm going to tell you something I heard in line at my first Joe show; "Your life will not be the same!"

"Is it the new blues mobile or what?"                                                                                                                                                                                                     "Fix the cigarette lighter."

Actually I just picked up the G&L  a few weeks ago.  The pickups in that are amazing!  They are one of the hottest single coils I've heard.  And the guitar wouldn't have sold me if the pickups weren't good because with G&L's custom pickup designs, you won't really find any replacements.  I think I read of one company that even makes replacement pickups for the G&L ASAT.

I keep lusting after the Les Paul Class 5... with the 5A quilt top.  But $6500 is out of my price range at this point in my life.
