Topic: Favourite song of ALL TIME!

This is a tricky question for most music fans, so what is it? What is your favourite song of all time?

Mine would take me a long time to think of
possibilities would be:

Whole lotta love - Led Zepellin

Mistreated - Deep Purple

Sweet Child o Mine - Guns N Roses

White Room - Cream

Asking around for you - JB

somthing like that...

Re: Favourite song of ALL TIME!

Yesterday I would have said Mountain Time (live), but I can not choose a single song that I could call my favorite for every day. It depends on what kind of mood I'm in. That's a HARD question Rus! wink

Re: Favourite song of ALL TIME!

This is impossible for me to answer (as is favorite album or artist of all time). It's so mood driven. My tastes change from day to day, if not hour to hour. But if I were to use total play counts on my iPod as the only determining factor, it would be the KXRO radio live in-studio performance/broadcast of Pain and Sorrow...by our very own JB.

Re: Favourite song of ALL TIME!

With a lot of decision-pain and only after ignoring all those other great songs who are standing up inside my head saying "it´s me, it´s me...", I say:

Mountain Time Live.

Whew .... !

Life Without You- by SRV wink

Re: Favourite song of ALL TIME!

Still in love with you- Thin Lizzy

It's a very emotional song with fantastic guitarplaying.
I played it the whole day after my father died 22 years ago, the same with my mother 13 years ago and again with my sister 11 years ago.
When someone I love dies it's my song as a kind of tribute  to him/her.

But in Utrecht, Osnabrueck and Cologne it has changed. Specially  in Cologne, I was in front of Joe with my best friend Rudi, my best female Bonabuddy Eva and Thomas best photographer.  Joe played Sloe Gin and specially the intro so sensitive that I  had to cry, my friends  saw it too.
Images from my father, mother and sister passed my mind and Joe's fantastic sensitive playing broke my heart.
Then I knew for sure: Joe's music takes over all the music I loved before but  still do.
Now it will be that version of Sloe Gin, thanks to Thomas who kindly sent it to me on DVD, which is my favourite, because of my family past.

It will be the song on my funeral over 40 years!!!

Dear Joe if you read this: Thanks  for you and your music! You're now a part of my family too, if you like it or not!!!
Sorry, can't help it

"Heroes" by David Bowie

As played on the Serious Moonlight Tour when the original song was transformed on tour by a hired musician to make it my favourite song of all time.

A change in emphasis and playing on the bass by Carmine Rojas completely changed the feel of this track - improving it by 100%

Hey Rus,
Good taste there, buddy, but I have to pick you up on your "White Room - Eric Clapton"

Tch ! Tch !  You guitarists ??? That should be White Room by Cream, joint composition by Jack Bruce (Bassman) and lyrics Pete Brown and all the verses sung by Jack Bruce.

(Well ok, chorus/guitar - Eric  Clapton.... darn guitarists, mumble mumble.)

Glad you guys are paying attention. And do you know how it got named Badge ?

When Harrison and Clapton were co writing, Harrison passed the song notes to Clapton with 'Bridge' written in the margin - which was Harrison's instrumental part in the middle.Eric misread this as 'Badge' and the name stuck and became a musical joke. Harrison never got
to perform the Bridge part as Cream split. It was first performed live on Monday 2nd May 2005 at RAH.I was there that night, Eric paused at the Bridge for about half a minute and most of the audience rose to their feet - a tribute to George Harrison.Very emotional. This night was not the one recorded on the DVD.
