I'm not from Oshkosh, I made the drive from Grand Rapids, Michigan to see the show.  It was a fun town to party in, cheap beers and the best beer idea/deal I've ever seen at a concert venue; $15 for a 6pack in a bucket full of ice.  No more missing some of the show waiting in line.  You can't beat that.  I'd love to see Marc Ford solo, though I wish he was still in the Crowes, that guy can rip; maybe he'll come around to Michigan sometime.

Well that's Wisconsin - people buy beer by the 6 pack - no screwing around with one
glass at a time!  Glad you had fun.
Marc Ford is still listed on the web for Oneida, but in the newspaper they listed a different
band for those dates - not sure what's going on.

Re: The Black Crowes

I saw the Black Crowes last night.  I am happy to report the show was excellent.  We were about 20 feet back from the stage.  IMO the mix was perfect, the sound was full, Chris's voice was great and best of all Patty, there were no incidents.  The show was over 2 hours long and the burning incense (and other things) filled the room.  It was truly a hippie event.  A great big wild party!!!

Now, the negatives...
Before the show started, this eerie, repetive music  they were playing thru the PA was monotonous.  And, the place was so crowded, you couldn't move.

But, all in all, they put on a great show and I would definitely go see them again.  Just love em!!!

Re: The Black Crowes

Bringing this old topic up as I just saw them Sunday in Milwaukee. Had seen part of their set at the Harley 105th over the Summer but this was much more energetic. Especially blown away by Luther Dickinsons guitar work. Never payed much attention to his band North Mississippi All Stars but now thinking of checking them out. Any cd suggestions?

Re: The Black Crowes

I just saw the Black Crowes again a couple of weeks ago in St. Augustine, FL.  This is a band that just doesn't get old to me.  When I saw them in Orlando last year they played alot of hits like Remedy, Sting Me, My Morning Song, Hotel Illness...  Not this time... but no one seemed to mind. They kicked the show off with 'Daughters of the Revolution' from the new Warpaint record and had the crowd rocking all night.  It was a great show.  If you like the Black Crowes, I highly recommend seeing them if they come to your town.

I'm also going to check out some of the North Mississippi Allstars records, so thanks Deezer for the suggestions.  I've heard some of their music when Joe used to play it on Sirius.  So far, I like what I've heard.

Re: The Black Crowes

We saw them this past spring in ATL. It has been several years since we saw them, for many of the comments listed above.

Luther takes them to a whole new level. This show was definitely the best Crowes show we've seen, ever.

Like someone farther up said, if you love this band you're gonna love the show. If you can get past the ticket price, it's worth it. Don't bother with a camera, however. Not allowed. But you'll be too busy enjoying the show anyway.

And ditto on what Deezer said if you want to hear more of Luther and North Mississippi Allstars. They are about to do a winter tour. Check 'em out (shameless plug)

Re: The Black Crowes

I'd love to see the Crowes, but I think I'm gonna have to settle for seeing the Allstars in Fayetteville for 20 bucks in January.

Hmm, settle for the Allstars! They are a far more superior band to the Black Crowes in my opinion, I love them! smile Wish they'd find a plane for the UK!

Re: The Black Crowes

Yeah, there's no "settling" with All Stars, they are my favorite band, hence my screen name.  Just saw them in St. Louis a couple weeks ago and they tore it down; they haven't missed a beat despite Luther's hiatus.  Just good times.

Re: The Black Crowes

Got to see the Crowes a month ago for the 24th and 25th time...god they are amazing.  Really love the sound Luther brings...he has grown as a guitarist by leaps and bounds since he started with the band - as far as fitting in with the Crowes sound.  Deezer, you really gotta check um out.

Three nights in DC...almost 3 hour shows...played only 3 songs that were the same. Thats what I want in a live show.  Then you can download them for 10 bucks a few days later!
