Topic: Joe Bonamassa authorized book-length biography...a proposal

Greetings fellow JB fans, my name is Sean Costello. My son Steve and I recently caught 3 JB shows in a row in Ontario, Canada, and were completely blown away. We've been fans for years, but had yet to see him live. At an artist chat on the evening of the second show, I gave Joe a copy of my latest novel (I write fiction: www.seancostello.net) as a token of thanks. When I introduced myself there was a moment of confusion--Joe thought I was giving him a biography of the recently deceased blues great, Sean Costello. That got me thinking that a biography of Joe would be an amazing idea, and almost certainly well-received by his many fans.

With this in mind, I submitted a proposal by mail to Joe and his management. I haven't heard anything yet, but in the interim I thought it might help my case if I could get a bunch of Joe's fans to show their support for the idea...hence this note and a web page I created as a sign-on site: www.bridgetobetterdays.com. If you'd be interested in seeing a book-length bio of Joe, please sign-up and help me convince Joe and his crew that this is something people would love to own. Please spread the word far and wide...and wish me luck!

There's an Introduction on the site, a version of which would appear in the bio should it come to fruition. Hope you enjoy it.

Being a novice to this forum, I'd appreciate anyone's help in getting this message seen by as many of the amazing number of registered users as possible.

First you need Joe's permission, then we can see how to help you out.

Thanks, Andre...and yes, I'm working on getting that permission as we speak. The site is really just designed as a means of discovering the degree of enthusiasm that might exist among Joe's fans for a project of this nature; strictly theoretical at this point. I thought it might strengthen my proposal if a large number of Joe's fans indicated that they would be keen to see an authorized bio.

It's too early for a bio IMHO, give it a few years....you'll know when it's time...heck I'm sure Joe would say the same (I'm not speaking for him though)...when he feels he's climbed the mountain and has acomplished all he wants to do, then fine....but you look at his work ethic, men like him are just driven...you probably would want to write a series as his musical adventures branch out...look at the diversification in his albums, wouldnt surprise me if he did an entire Jazz album...or whatever... he may end up as the most accomplished artist ever, and I meen that with all sincerity....he can play any style, his vocals are progeressing on each and every album as his confidence grows...boredom and stagnation will never exist for Joe Bonamassa...in fact, I hate to say this, but I dont see him with the same band as it exist today...why?...simply put, very few can keep that kind of pace...I could go on and on, but I think you get where my opinion lyes

Hi Dave, thanks for your reply. And yes, I did think about it perhaps being a bit early. But on the other hand, there's a kind of perfect circle about to close, with Joe's upcoming performance at the Royal Albert Hall. I realize there's still a lot ahead for Joe Bonamassa, but there's a twenty-eight year loop here that began with a love of the British sound and will peak next May; think of it as the first long chapter.

I live in Canada and have a fairly wide reach with my already published fiction. I set the site up only a couple of days ago and have already had 30 people who've never heard of Joe sign up. All of them visited his site and have become instant fans. Joe's Street Team philosophy is 'get the word out' and I truly believe this will help. Bio's tend to come too late in some artists lives, in my opinion; let's see what's been going on in this already illustrious career NOW--how it came to be, right from the tender age of 4, what it feels like to be a rising star, go behind the scenes...and catch a glimpse of where it's all headed. Later, when Joe finally kicks back in his rocker (let's hope that's a LONG time away), then we can worry about volume 2.

Allright I see where your coming from...cool...hey if your heart feels that would draw interest to this widely unknown musician (cant believe I used them words)...then I'm all for it, when the world finds out about him, it will be the same thing I always hear..."Wheres this guy been, and how come I've never heard of him?"

Thanks for the advice, Jane. I have sent a letter to J&R outlining the proposal, and an email to Nicki regarding getting the word out. As you've indicated, they're all very busy and I haven't heard back as yet. Right now I'm just trying to gauge interest, to add strength to my proposal.
