I am a huge fan of Wishbone Ash. One of the original twin lead/harmony guitar bands. People who do not know about them are really missing out, especially fans of great guitar work, which I think that most here are since Joe is one of the best going these days. These guys made some great albums over the years and most of them are still available.
As far as APWA vs. MTWA maybe that should be explained here. APWA is the band that is known as "Wishbone Ash" , the AP being for Andy Powell, the flying V master. Andy is the person who has kept the flame burning all these years, the only original member who has never left the band, and this band has been making albums since 1970. His band is considered by most to be the true Wishbone Ash.Wishbone Ash keeps putting out great new material, and the band is outstanding.
MTWA is Martin Turner's band, they are known as "Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash" Martin is the original bass player and lead singer of WA, he also is credited with writing most of the classic Argus album's songs. Some peopel out there consider Martin's band to be more of a legacy band since they only play the old classic era songs. They also released a new version of Argus, actually remade the album, and I must say they did a great job of it. It is kind of Argus 2008. They are very good.
Check out either band, you can't go wrong.
Always loved the Ash, one of the only two guitar lessons I took in my life was all about the very first Wishbone Ash album. Thanks Philip wherever you are for turning me onto Wishbone Ash.....
Yeh, I've seen Wishbone Ash a couple of times at Pacific Road in Birkenhead. Each time was almost a sell out. They have some diehard fans. I'm not surprised because they are quite simply Brilliant! Now Joe has a flying V, maybe he should invite Andy Powell up for a harmony! That would be cool!
I had "There's The Rub" on 8-track back in the '70s....some pretty amazing stuff on there and catchy tunes "Silver Shoes" "Persephone" etc.
good stuff
absolutly WA fan..................................even if joe has got a flying V now............................the master of it is Andy Powell for sure.
Thomas
I'm another one who's been a fan since Pilgrimage and Argus and seen them a few times. They’re definitely one of the best with guitar harmonies and their songs are always melodic and tuneful. As Silt says above, more here should check out the Ash.

You said "nearly" got it right . Just out of curiousity what part of what I said was wrong? Not that I need to be right, but if I don't have it right maybe you can enlighten me.
I certainly don't know about the pissing contest that seems to be going on.
Add me to the list of long time Wishbone Ash fans. In one of my early "garage bands" back in '77 and '78 we covered Lady Whiskey, Jailbait and Blowin' Free.

Wow, I had no idea that it has come to that. I might just have to take a look on those forums, you say that there are two of them? I'll google them and check it out.
Thank you, and also a big thanks for bringing WA to the 'other artists" part of the Joe B forum, they are , in whatever form, vital to the history of rock. One of the great guitar oriented bands of all time.

Count me in also as a long time Ash fan. Was lucky enough to have seen them few times over the years too. Some great tunes !!!!! Glad you brought up the thread...i'll put some Ash on now as a matter of fact !!!! Larry G
back in the day I liked them.Still like to pull out Live Dates some absolute guitar brilliance
I was an early on fan from the 70's and kinda' lost track of them until my now 19 year-old uncovered them in my vinyl collection and purchased their entire collection. As a result, he turned me on to "There's The Rub", I think its his #1 or #2 favorite...he's also big on Argus. Same scenario followed with King Crimson & Jethro Tull...its been very cool to connect with some music from these great bands that I wasn't familiar with previously. Gary- Live dates was in my original vinyl collection, great album!
