Sigh stuff like that which could ruin a guys year sad

Re: Joe be carefull of your guitars!!!

I'm sure he's insured the guitars, but that still would suck.  The emotional attachment to them plus the time you had breaking them in and getting them set up would be tough to swallow.  Its sad that people are like that though.  Good thing Bonamassa JR. was there to protect them.  But even if someone grabbed them how could you tell if he wasn't a employee or a someone stealing it?  I'd stop em if I caught them but I don't know his crew from Adam.  Either way if they got caught some body would get an BUTT whuppin'!  If not from me from all his die hard fans.

Re: Joe be carefull of your guitars!!!

Be glad you didn't try to steal one! They are protected by a special MoJo that would have turned the thief into a toad!!! I do know that Joe fans are hard core and I doubt they would allow such a thing to happen. I remember when the Gigliotti went missing..

Just think of all the guitars that have gone missing though claptons les pal, rorys strat the list goes on :x

Re: Joe be carefull of your guitars!!!

You know John, I've never understood why there isn't a central, on-line registry for missing gear!!! It seems that would make it easier to track them down. Ultimately Karma will have the last word! wink Cathy

uno what I'm suprised there isnt instruments have serials for a reason imagine how hard it would be to flog someones gear if it was flagged as stolen, instruments like gibsons and fenders have next to no value with no serial (because of fakes etc)

Last summer in San Francisco someone stole my strat and my cousin's guitar that was a jackson...Police brought back only the strat because we had not serial number of the jackson and guitar center had not too!!! I think this is absurd...why don't a store like guitar center record all the serial number of the guitars they sell???

Put a Lo Jack on 'em!

Back in the early '90's I played at the famous rock club CBGB's in NYC.  At a club like that they have bands every 45 min from 8 pm til 2 am.  It's chaotic.   A band is loading in while one is loading out.  The catch is, if you want to play for a empty house but get the record execs there you go on at 8.  If you want a packed house, you play late.  Well we wanted the record eecs so we played first at 8pm.  After the set a few execs from Polydor and Capitol took us out on the town.  We left NYC around 4 am.  When we got home to Pittsburgh later that afternoon I discovered my Kramer Pacer that was signed by Joe Satriani, Alan Holdsworth, Pat Metheny and Ted Nugent wasn't in the van.
I figured there would be no way on earth that my guitar survived 4 bands loading in and out after us in New York.  I called the club and asked if by some miracle a guitar in a blue gig bag was any where around.  Sure enough it was still sitting beside the back stage door!!!

Either no one wanted it or there were some honest musicians there that night.  There's a little hope for humanity but my iPod was stolen last weekend sad

One time when I was 17 I left my Les Paul 'Special 57 reissue  in a parking lot after a gig forgetting to put it in my car.  I got home, realized it wasn't there, drove back to the club and there it was ...sitting all alone in the parking lot.  And I wasn't even drinking!!!

Come to think of it, I don't have any of my guitars serial #'s registered.  I need to do that tonight!

Re: Joe be carefull of your guitars!!!

Thanks Danny for giving me hope. I like to believe in the good in people. It does sound as if the onus is on guitar owners to mark their guitars. I think chips are a wonderful idea. Is it costly? Maybe I should turn my myspace or facebook into a missing gear site since I never use them....Just seems there should be a central place! (Redundant I know...)    Cathy
