Topic: Strat setup question here.

String tree's.  I understand they are making the strings come down at an angle of around 5 degree's to 12 degrees so that the strings don't bind up when you use your whammy bar.  I don't use the darn whammy and my bridge sits flush with the body.  I've heard that strings are easier to bend the shorter the string is.  So if cut out the string tree will it make full string bends easier?  Also I'm going for that whole clapton bend with the vibrato in it so will it help me get the vibrato in easier?  I've set it up and like this way but I was wondering what some other peoples take on it is.  Thanks Arnold.

BTW I'm thinking of upgrading pickups on the strat whats everyones favorite brand right now.  Lindy Franklin is a little to high for me but I'm not ruling it out.

Try this guy http://www.rockmonkeyguitars.com/ he makes very good pick ups and is very knowledgeable. Gorilla Grooves are cool

Seymour Duncan Antiquities are good, other then them ones that Ive tried I pretty much remained stock on my strats guess I got lucky with pick ups.

Played a nash tele and it had lollars.  Blew away any single coil in  a Fender I've ever tried.

I guess it all depends upon your style of playing and if the guitar itself is worth changing out pups.

Fralin, Bare Knuckle and Lollar are my pickups of of choice.

Ah great guys.  I've tired pickups in the past with this guitar.  The stock pickups are thin on it.  Then I decided to try Fender Vintage noiseless but they sound more like weak humbuckers to me.  Then I got the wild idea to try GFS guitar pickups because I didn't have $200 bucks to fork out.  GFS makes darn good pickups for the money but I'm trying to nail down Clapton's sound in 461 Ocean Blv. or Slowhand.  I can get close with all of them but it just seems to be missing something.  I don't think its the amp I'm using (which sucks btw) but anyways thanks for the suggestions.  I'll let you know what I end up with.
