Topic: The Choking Game

I just received this in an email and am in shock...I never heard of this before.  It's a sobering topic but needs more awareness.  Please pass this on to anyone you can, it just may save a life:

A 13-year old girl passed away last night as a result of playing "the choking game ". This child was a bright student in eighth grade here in Warwick. Please pray for the friends and family of Robert M*******.

I've heard of this one also...I have a sister that sends me all these emails as i have young neices and nephews....one thats been out for a few years are the cans of compressed air for cleaning your keyboard and other items...the cans are cheap, not illegal to buy that i know of, and the kids use them to inhale for a buzz....depending on the person, it can kill you immediately as it stops your heart instantly...when I was about 12, airplane glue was the rage...umm yes I'm embarrest to say...peer pressure, dont follow, you dont need it

This is real sad, im 15 years old, and would never do anything like that. A lot of kids my age do drugs, and i just think: surely those guys dont realise what kind of future theyve got? Why should they risk all of the opportunities for one little head rush? Im proud of the person i am. Im not boasting, but i think im doin real well in school, and would never throw it all away. Besides, havent they got better things to do, like listen to Joe?

I'm glad to hear that Rus...you should be proud of yourself.

They burried the poor girl during the week...so sad.  I can't imagine what the family is going through.  Her friends said that she looked this "game" up on the web out of curiosity...most of the time the internet is a good thing, but in this case I hate it.

Mindy, that is very shocking to say the least. It's unbelievable that kids can believe that this 'game' is safe just because there are no drugs involved. I've never heard of this going on in this country but then again who knows! The internet has a lot to answer for in many ways. It can facilitate so much good in the world but also so much evil and depravity.
I wish all kids had a sensible head on their shoulders like our Rus.

Very dangerous practices and everyone thinks it happens to 'someone elses child'

My nephew died instantly after inhaling lighter gas.

Im real sorry to hear that. People should never think that nothing will ever happen to them. Thats why these things are in the news all the time. But again. Im sorry for your loss.
