Topic: Whats up?

Hey I'm a teenager in the DC area and I got into Joe's music about a year ago when a teacher of mine raved about "a guy who could nail the style of any guitarist, but also has his own". My favorite of his songs are "Ball Peen Hammer", and his cover of "If heartaches were nickles". I have a fender Bassman 59 RI (which i plan to trade for a Budda), and guitarwise a fender Am deluxe strat and a Gibson SG Classic (which I plan to trade for a heritage les paul). I am a gear/tone geek and i spend my free time playing guitar and "studying" guitar gear.

Re: Whats up?

Hi Evan

Welcome to the friendliest site on the web.
I like your moniker. Presumably you are LH'd ??

As you can see by my avitar, I have that "affliction"

Buying guitars is much more difficult due to the very limited choice. I have managed to find a Les Paul (see avitar) and an Am Strat. Both lovely !!

If you haven't seen Joe and the band live, please make sure you do. Magic !!

I have a teenage son who is also guitar mad and a great Joe fan.

Re: Whats up?

Welcome to the forum Evan. It doesn't matter to us if you're left handed, right handed or ambidextrous. There's plenty of gear nuts here too with whom to share your obsession.
Enjoy!

Re: Whats up?

Hi Evan and a warm welcome to another young player. Many greats were lefties. Mark Knopfler plays a right handed guitar and says his heavy left handed strokes are a part of his unique sound. Your gear obsession will be fulfilled here....have fun. Here's the link to the thread asking about other teenage members..check it out....Cathy amawitch

Re: Whats up?

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm glad to see that in this forum, people actually know about guitars, which is more than I can say about "Ultimate Guitar". I have a question though: what's with the "Platinum" and in particular, the "BONAMETAL" under people's usernames?

It has to do with the number of posts that a person has.

Re: Whats up?

Hi Evan,

Welcome to the forum.  Its good to see other folk with an intrest in playing guitar. I have for over 36 yrs now. I did attempt "Sloe gin" but i'm not happy with it yet to play live.
I have been teaching guitar for like 20yrs, so any questions pop them my way . As you never know i may find the answer????? ( fat chance!!! lol)

Anyway enjoy.

If you visit my web page I think some of my guitars are pictured there.
