Topic: Tell us what you got

I've looked back a few pages and didn't see anything like this around so here goes.  Why don't we get all the guitar players on here to tell us about their guitars amps and what ever else they got and tell us whats cool about it. Weather its just a really fast action or if its a custom one of kind of thing.  I'll start.

Guitars:  2002 Les paul Classic - I have RS guitarworks kit in it and 57' classic pickups nickle covers.  I've also reliced it myself.  I like it.
2001 American series Stratocaster - It's stock other then the GFS pickups I put in it.  The old ones sounded ok but the GFS was cheap and beefy.
I also have 4 other strats but nothing special I did build one of them.

Amps:  I used to have more and better but.... now I have a Peavey Windsor Head and a Epiphone Valve JR. head.  Both are good amps but I miss my Fender Vibrolux Reverb.

I don't own pedals anymore.  I thought I'd sale all of them and go with a Boss ME 50 which is what I play now but it sucks.  Big effects boards have their place but I'd go back to individual pedals in a heart beat if I could buy them back again.

Re: Tell us what you got

Mind if I post pictures?

My main squeeze is my '05 Les Paul Standard Light Burst. This thing has been modded to death but I love it. It's got a shaved R6 pickguard (the color is much better than that Barbie Pink stuff they're using as case candy these days), a Seymour Duncan '59 in the bridge, Burstbucker Pro in the neck, a Gibson ABR-1 bridge that's been reemed out to fit on Nashville bridges, a Gotoh Aluminum Tail Piece, an RS Guitarworks kit, those cool little knob pointers, Historic Pickup Rings and....I think that's it! I actually have some Grovers on their way, the 18:1 ones, I'm psyched! Always loved the look of a Les Paul with Grovers (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v678/ … erssx8.jpg). Eventually I'll spring for a Pigtail ABR-1 Bridge and I'll have that installed correctly, maple dowels and all.

As far as pedals I've got a Tube Driver (seen above), a TS808, a Vox wah, an Option 5 Destination Rotation, a Keeley modded DL-4, and a Boss TU-2.

Oh, and here's my Frankstrat!

Re: Tell us what you got

Man the LP is beautiful.  mine is just a cheap one that plays good and sounds good.  Its not as good looking as yours.  kids has taken most of my good stuff away to help pay bill and things.  I currenly have 5 guitars.  I had 16.

Hey thanks man, I appreciate it. From 16 guitars to 5 though? That's brutal...I'm never having kids.

Re: Tell us what you got

I had some nice ones.  I had a 1968 Gibson ES-335 it wasn't original and had been refinished.  A gibson flying V 1988 Gibson Les Paul Special DC, Gibson SG Standard, Eric Clapton Signature model, Yamaha RGX-TT Ty Tabor model, Yamaha AES 620, C.F Martin 000-18, a Cheap washburn acoustic, another cheap acoustic samik, and an Alvereze 12 string.  I had a lot of amps too.  My First real amp was a solid state deluxe 90.  Then I got a Fender Vibrolux reverb, a laney tube amp, and a marshall 50 watt JCM 800.  I spent retail value on about all of them and sold them on ebay when times got tight.  The kids are worth it.  But thats why I made such a big deal out of keeping your guitar original because I've tried to sell stuff before and if its original and in good condition you'll get most of your money back.  But if it was used and abused or nothing is original your looking to lose half of what you paid for it.  With me I had no choice.  Times are better right now but I had a lot of life hit me very fast.  I'm only 26!

Re: Tell us what you got

My Paul is my take-it-with-me-to-the-grave guitar, so I'm not concerned about keeping it in original condition. All of the mods (except the pickguard, that was just aesthetic) actually improve the guitar's performance, so technically I should get MORE money for it. If only every eBay buyer was an active member of the Les Paul Forum...but it's beat all to hell. I don't plan on selling it for beer money in college either tongue

Re: Tell us what you got

How do you like your Eric Johnson strat? I hear it's pretty much a new vintage strat, and it's looking to be my next guitar.

It has been my number 1 since I bought it in 2006 from Wildwood Music in Colorado.  I highly recommend doing business with them, BTW.   I was intrigued by the guitar when it first came out.  It speced out exactly what I wanted in a Strat, with the exception of the three variables - the shape of the neck, the pickups that they designed for it, and the lack of string tree.  I bought the guitar and found none of those variables to bee issues at all.

As far as the neck, the soft V to C shape absolutely makes the guitar for me.  I would love to snag another off of Ebay from Stratosphere or another to put on another body.  Many people claim that the nitro on the EJ Strats are sticky, and I'll admit mine was for the first week.  That stickiness did not last long at all and it is just as slick as any other guitar I have now.  The lack of a string tree has never been an issue.  I forget that it is even gone.  The pickups are great.  I get that lovely quack that I love, and for the first time I find myself actually USING and Strat's bridge pick-up, although I still do roll off just a tad of treble on it.

When the EJ was first shown at NAMM a few years back, the model they kept showing there and in the ads all had a nice flame.  I'm sure you are aware that the necks on this model are quarter sawn.  Well, I looked, looked, and looked for an EJ that had the same amount of 'flame' in the neck as the ads had.  I kept coming up empty until finally I found one on Wildwood's website that appeared to have it in their photos.  I called them up and talked to the owner, Steve Mesple, and he confirmed that the particular guitar I was interested in stood out from the others.  I bought it and have been extremely happy with it!

Re: Tell us what you got

Man!  That strat has that Derek and the Dominos look nailed!  I love how the body was glued straight down the center instead of to the side like most strats are.  I'm sure your very happy with at baby.

Re: Tell us what you got

The guitars I use:

Fender '96 Anniversary Strat
Westone mid-80's Rainbow II
Schecter '05 PT Custom
Epiphone '07 Elitist Firebird
Vester '82 'Stratocaster'

The amps Im currently using:

A Solton head, producing a tight bottom and crystalclear tones. I have absolutely no knowledge of year, name og model. If anyone knows anything about these amps, please let me know. Im dying to get a second one!
Category 5 JB-100 head - Both volumes at 10, you know?
The amps are plugged into a 4x12" cab, loaded with vintage celestion vintage 30 speakers. Best speakers ever made.

Now... When it comes to pedals and such, I believe that less is more, so Ive cooked it down to a crybaby, a Fulltone Fulldrive 2 and a tuner.

What did you expect to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wild beasts sweeping majestically over the fields?
