Topic: What was your first gig ?

26/02/1977 Newcastle City Hall Ted Nugent the motorcity madman! What an introduction to live music and I've never looked back!

Re: What was your first gig ?

Summer of '66 or '67(Jr. High days), went to a "Battle of the Bands" at a high school gym in Walnut Creek, Ca. Besides a couple of local bands there were three bands from SF that played, Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, and the Santana Blues Band. Jefferson Airplane won mostly for playing White Rabbit.

Nickelback/Puddle of Mudd like 4 years ago...*cough*......yeah.

This thread is going to kill me if people come on here saying "Oh yeah my first concert was seeing Cream when I was 15." or something.

Re: What was your first gig ?

The Rolling Stones at the Stadthalle, Vienna in either 1965 or early 1966. I heard more screaming girls than music.

My second live show was The Beatles at D.C. Stadium (RFK wasn't dead yet) in 1966.

Talk about starting at the top. big_smile

I'll bet that was nothin' but a house party. I saw them in'81 opening for the Stones and they stole the show.

"There's a lot of people that are in so much of a hurry to be, I guess, to be famous or that they don't want to take the time to learn to play and do all that. They'd rather just knock it down off a computer and maybe get on a game show and get famous..That's fine if that's what you want to do.

Re: What was your first gig ?

The old Chicago Amphitheater (since torn down), Deep Purple was the headliner, backed up by Billy Preston and an unknown (at least at that time) band from Texas named ZZ Top.
ZZ Top absolutely stole the show.
I believe it was 1972.
