Another bummer, always sad to hear such news........that title looks really strange though, like YOU found him Libby.
Major bummer, one of the finest rock drummers ever...Condolences to Mitch's family....RIP Mitch...
Yes, its very sad. Hope the Experience are cranking it up somewhere above us all.
one of my fav's
RIP...he was one of the last great ones....he will truly be missed..............:(
Quite a shock & Very sad....
i just saw the "Experience Hendrix" show as it hit Detroit about 2 weeks ago or so.
Mitch was great....occasionally running up to the mike to thank the players and the crowd, then returning to his kit to play along.
He was funny as he ran up to Buddy Guy as he was throwing picks to the crowd to make sure that he got 1 himself.
I am glad that i got to see him perform.
God love you Mitch.....i'm sure you & Jimi will be jammin again soon !

Dad told me this yesterday and i wasnt fast enough to make an own topic.
But really this took me by a big surprise... Many of my music heroes are dead but they have like always been...but hearing "Your favorite drummer died yesterday" has never happend to me before...okay not sure if that made any sense at all but still..
Mitch is my all-time Favorite drummer! Rest In Peace

Mitch Mitchell death was 'natural'
Mitch Mitchell, the legendary drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, died in his sleep of natural causes, US medical tests revealed.
Briton Mitchell, 61, whose fusion style allowed him and one of history's greatest guitar players to feed off each other, was found early on Wednesday in his room at the Benson Hotel in Portland, Oregon.
Dr Christopher Young of the Multnomah County Medical Examiner's Office told The Oregonian that Mitchell may not have sought medical help because "sometimes people don't realize how sick they are".
Mitchell, born in Ealing, west London, made his final performance at the last stop on the West Coast leg of the Experience Hendrix tribute tour.
He looked tired and played only one song, said Terry Currier, owner of the Music Millennium record shop.
was at the final tribute tour last friday in portland...(great show by the way) mitch snuck on the center drum kit for a few minutes during "angel"...thought he was checking out his gear for one last time before starting on the next number...guess he was...RIP Mitch

Where are all you experts on drummers??....will someone give Bogie a ring, I trust him to know....Keith Moon better than Neil Peart??...the heart and soul of Rush, hmm

.Keith Moon better than Neil Peart??

Yes. Just look at what happened to The Who after Moon died. When he died, he took most of the heart and soul out of the band, which to be honest, and even Pete will attest to, died completely when Entwistle passed. Check out the new DVD The Who just put out, 'Live At Kilburn '77', particularly the bonus DVD of a performance from 1969 at the London Coliseum, which although production wise isn't the finest, clearly shows what an amazing drummer he was, within The Who. Funny, outside the band, such as when he jammed with Zeppelin onstage, he didn't show it, but in his prime, he was awe inspiring. Peart is fantastic too, no doubt, but Moon was the originator of wildman drumming.

Hey no arguments from me Keith....Moon was an animal!...they have been showing the "Isle of Wight" from 1970 on my HD music program, he scorches the set...if his eyes were any bigger they would have fell out of his head...what a contrast from Entwhistle to Moon, you talk about complete opposites on stage....love that old late 60s blues, wish that video were a little better, but vintage none the less
