Topic: The Bucket List

Hope I dont put this forum on a bummer, or have somebody cringe ***geez Shred lighten up dude!***

Just finished watching the movie starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman....if you dont know the story line, it's about two elderly men who have only a short time to live ...they write down on a piece paper things they have always wanted to....see, buy, experience, and so on before they pass on....well it got me to do some soul searching...I"ll give a couple just to kick this off, if anyone wants, thrown some down

1) retire at 55....even if I have to work part time (thats retired? lol)

2) tour the east coast, and end up in Cooperstown , N.Y.

I'm doing one off my bucket list next April, just before Joe's gig in London, so I hope I don't end up in the pot (recompression chamber) I'm off to Truk Lagoon and Sangat Island in Micronesia to dive on the Japanese fleet. It's been touring round my head for the last thirty years, so me and 19 other dudes from our diving club are off out there 3rd April next year, before we all get too old!

Well Shred if you tour the East coast, Pittsburgh better be on your stops.  Me, always wanted to take the wifey and swim with them dolphins.   Or take a safari type adventure.

Find out who the hell shot JFK and why. I was a ten year old 5th grader when it happened and it's bugged me ever since. In ten days it'll be 45years.

That sounds really cool Geoff...wish I didnt fear water (nearly drowned), I'd love to go diving in some warm tropical water

I loved that movie Daryl...I asked Deb if she would be cool if I were the M.F. character...she said absolutey, if some rich person wanted to fullfill your dreams she was all for it...then I really tested her..."suppose the person was a woman honey?"....she said NO!! and walked away...."come back honey, the lady is very unattractive"....as she's down the hallway..."your not going anywhere with no woman, even if your in a straight jacket"....guess I better call my rich woman friend who wants to buy me that corvette"

luxury box seats for every major league baseball stadium.....taking pregame warm ups with The Yankees....sitting in the Yankees dugout during a 4 game series late in the season...did I mention I'm a baseball freak?...thought so

Brother anytime you want to go to Cooperstown, let me know, it's just up the road from me. I'd be happy to show you some cool spots in the Northeast. I suggest that you make the trip in the summer or fall. It kinda sucks 'round here in the winter unless your sleddin or ice fishin' or skiin' or................

Hey Andy - Ice fishing ROCKS!  Some good comraderie out on the ice...  we take BBQ grills out there, beer stays COLD (iced shots of whisky too), good tunes on the IPod, fresh air and sometimes you even catch something to take home and cook.  Fried bluegills are the best tasting piscatorial treat! But I agree - Californians wouldn't be too thrilled with being caught up in a Nor'easter or endless lake effect crap.  Autumn is the best time for a visit. You know well how awesome the scenery gets in NY when the leaves are in full color.

3 cars I've really wanted to own

1) 1968 Shelby GT 500 mustang, 428 Cobra jet engine and a 4 speed....without matching numbers, you can pick up a nice one for around $40,000

2) 427 Cobra with a 4 speed (throw in some nitrous oxside too)...a kit you can do for $30,000 if you just want to go fast....$100,000 if you go with a tubular suspension and jaguar rearend...I was taken for a ride in one...frightening fast!

3) 1971 426 hemi 'Cuda"....numbers matching...forget it...but the one with a 4 speed, and a pistol grip shifter...I can close my eyes and tell you it's a mopar, the starters in them cars have very distinct sound

Used to own a Blue 69 Super Bee 440. Yeah it had the 6 pack! It was a neck breaker! Wish I still had it. I think they fetch around 60K these days.

Well I've just signed up to do something that's been on my "bucket list" for a few years now. I've just signed up to do a 10,000ft tandem skydive in early May. I'm doing it for a local cancer charity thats close to my heart. Have wanted to do something like this for a long time now, and I guess there is no time like the present eh!?!

Hopefully weather permitting, I'll be jumping the weekend after the RAH concert, so the juices will probably still be flowing by then I'm sure!!

Has anyone else in here skydived, just curious? Am expecting quite the adrenaline rush...thats for sure!

I've set up a group on Facebook for this if anyone is interested in joining, feel free to join if you like...am not pimping for donations or anything...but feel free to stop by.

So very cool Paul, have fun!!.....me and a group of baseball friends were scheduling a static jump from 5,000 for $65.00 each in 1982, and one by one people started backing out, it got down to only me and it got expensive because we lost the group discount....it never materialized, to this day I regret it....I have to many bulging disks to even consider it now....and the thought of being the only parent my children will have left makes it too risky to consider....let us know how it goes and get a helmet cam to video it....by the way, use the restroom before you leave the ground, and I'm not joking either yikes

Now that's what I call one heck of an interesting trip; diving on the Japanese fleet has got to be an increditble adventure! smile

And Paul,

I've never jumped out of plane in my life. I'd tell you about a particular tandem sky jumping incident that happened on a golf course I play. Now, when I say "on the golf course" I truly mean "On The Golf Course". Actually, maybe I had better not tell you....... yikes

For me, you know there's very little that I want to do. OK, maybe these:

--As Bill said, play a round of golf on Augusta National. I'll also include play a round at the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland.

--Travel over the Big Pond to Europe which I'm doing in April/May.

--Go fly fishing in New Zealand.

--Hang out in Australia for about a year. Hey, it's a Big Country. smile

P.S. I liked the movie "The Bucket List" very much. I guess it sums up the fact that it's never too late to change or to try something, as long as you do it before it's too late. wink
