Another great show by Back Door Slam last night in Northampton, Ma.  Here's the link to my review:

It was an awesome show.  One of the highlights was Danny Lewis of Govt Mule coming out to play keyboards on What in the World and one of the new songs (which I don't know the name of) with the guys-totally unexpected!  The addition of the keys was pretty cool.

AND - Davy played Neil Young's Cortez with Mule!  That just made an almost perfect evening priceless.

The Mule (and their fans) really seem to be enjoying their time with Back Door Slam.  I can't get over how much the band has seemed to "grow" in just over the first week with them.  All of you who are going to see them in the next couple of weeks are in for a huge treat!  And if anyone can get some pictures that would be much appreciated - the security last night at the door was nasty - not too many cameras were sneaking by those guys - but from the smell in the place plenty of other things were getting in.  So Libby or anyone else  - I'm counting on you for some good pictures if you are going to one of the shows out your way.

One of the funny things I noticed more than usual last night were all the faces these guys make while playing their guitars.  Joe does it, Warren does it, Davy does it - is it part of the package?  I found myself watching faces more than guitars last night.  It's fascinating.

Hooked up with theStepchild at the gig.  He and his son enjoyed the show.  Nice to meet up with Bonabuddies.

"There's a lot of people that are in so much of a hurry to be, I guess, to be famous or that they don't want to take the time to learn to play and do all that. They'd rather just knock it down off a computer and maybe get on a game show and get famous..That's fine if that's what you want to do.

Yeah that was a different kind of show! Here you are in a nice old theater and seating is just a free for all! Had more of an outdoor festival feel to it.(almost some partying going on)Stood up close for BDS and very impressive. My son was totally blown away..........."dad I'm downloading when I get home!"Went to the back for Gov't Mule and that is the tightest band you'll ever see. It was amazing having your pant legs moving from the sound, but it's not obnoxiously loud. The one thing I noticed with the difference between Warren  and Joe is, Joe keeps the flow going with his guitars tuned and moves on right to the next song .Warren switches guitars and he'll tune it for a minute before the next song. I'm not complaining about it,it was just an observation. The way Warren plays I think his guitars are out of tune at the end of every song. Thanks AGAIN Sandy see you soon!!
