Re: If You Could Go Back In Time and See ??
Hendrix opening for The Monkees (The shock value alone would've been priceless)
The Allman Brothers live at The Fillmore East with Duane, March 12, –March 13, 1971
Alice Cooper Group at the Toronto Rock N Roll Revival 1969 (Did he or didn't he kill that chicken?)
The Who at Leeds, England February 14, 1971
Stevie Ray Vaughan live at Alpine Valley August 26, 1990
Three of my Jr. high buddies went to the Monkees show at the Cow Palace in San Francisco and didn't know what to make of Jimi, the opening act. I would have loved to see The Beatles, but from what the people I know who saw them at the last gig here in SF @ Candlestick Park(it was '66 Shred and the last live concert they ever did.) said all you heard were screaming girls, the music was inaudible. It still would have been cool to be there though. I still remember driving past the hotel they were staying at in San Mateo, Ca. when they played here in'65 and seeing a few thousand fans, mostly girls hovering around the place just hoping for a glimpse of the Fab Four.
I passed on going to SF in '75 to see AC/DC @ Bill Graham's nightclub, The Old Waldorf. As I told my co-worker who tried to talk me into going, I'm not goin' to SF to see somebody named AC/DC. Obviously I was ignorant to who and what they were about and I confess I was acting a bit homophobic and used the experience to develop a more tolerant outlook toward others.
