Three of my Jr. high buddies went to the Monkees show at the Cow Palace in San Francisco and didn't know what to make of Jimi, the opening act. I would have loved to see The Beatles, but from what the people I know who saw them at the last gig here in SF @ Candlestick Park(it was '66 Shred and the last live concert they ever did.) said all you heard were screaming girls, the music was inaudible. It still would have been cool to be there though. I still remember driving past the hotel they were staying at in San Mateo, Ca. when they played here in'65 and seeing a few thousand fans, mostly girls hovering around the place just hoping for a glimpse of the Fab Four.

I passed on going to SF in '75 to see AC/DC @ Bill Graham's nightclub, The Old Waldorf. As I told my co-worker who tried to talk me into going, I'm not goin' to SF to see somebody named AC/DC. Obviously I was ignorant to who and what they were about and I confess I was acting a bit homophobic and used the experience to develop a more tolerant outlook toward others.

I reread Bobs question.....so I've done some soul searching....I'm going with Joe Bonamassa at "The Rockpalast"....I've said it here before, it's my alltime favorite DVD of any musician....I went crazy the first time I played it...."The River" will always be in my brain for the rest of my time...."who the hell is this guy, what a monster" went through my head....I didnt pick my forum user name without a little thought....I'm going to see Lance Lopez next month for the very first time, and he knows I'm a huge fan with some video to shoot, so my mind is open to that "If you could go back in time and see??....I'm jonesin to catch this cat at this tiny little venue, thoughts of The Elmocambo are going through my head....time will tell smile

Thats a tough question. SRV anywhere, Rory in Belfast or Hendrix in London.

I like these suggestions, and would also add Peter Green with Fleetwood Mac. I'd also have loved to have seen Joe with the Rockpalast line up!

The Rockpalast show again.
I was there and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Not only the show but everything was just great like weather, castle, food, people etc. had the last talk with Eric Czar, a few weeks later he left the band.

Re: If You Could Go Back In Time and See ??

Hi Shred,

I said this before on the forum long time ago. I'm standing one meter from Joe just behind the woman with the long blond hair and glasses.

I wear glasses too and wear a striped T shirt. It's true that from the back you couldn't see much, that's why me and my Bonafriend Rudi were near the stage.

I'll have pictures from the show, the casle etc. but analog. I'll ask Eva when she's here with Blues in the Schools to put them on the forum. Me and my wife Corine don't know how to do it.

Re: If You Could Go Back In Time and See ??

The standards: Led Zep, SRV, Beatles, etc...

Others: Freddie King, Chet Atkins, Buddy Holly...

Re: If You Could Go Back In Time and See ??

Duane Allman with the Allman Brothers.  Les Paul in his prime.  Django Reinhardt. Cream. The original Mountain.  The question is who do I wish I could see now but am broke.

Re: If You Could Go Back In Time and See ??

Winifred Atwell playing piano boogie - too early for me to go and see but my first album of any description was 'Poor People Of Paris' circa 1962.

I've thrown a lot of vinyl but I couldn't part with that one.

I would have paid to see Scott Joplin play, my favourite -  'Easy Winners'.

Re: If You Could Go Back In Time and See ??

SRV with Jeff Beck back in 1989. I had tickets for the show but got very ill the day before the concert. I sold the tickets to a friend and thought to myself "I'll catch Stevie next time he comes through". That was to never happen....
