I wonder why has Joe stopped using his Gigliotti Tele on mountain time?

I talked to Dave about it at the annapolis show. He said he was only using for that one song and just wanted to try something new. He expects it to be back in the rotation sometime in the not to distant future.

I hope that's true dr. dave. While I didn't hear a huge difference in the sound with the Les Paul versus the Gigliotti on "Mountain Time" when I saw Joe back in August - Joe can work his magic with any guitar - I did find I missed SEEING the Gigliotti, even for just one song.

Me too! I think there is something special about that guitar/song combination that I can't explain, and it's not really the sound, it's more the visual. It's also the one comment I have always heard from new fans. They always ask about that guitar, whether they are musicians or not.
I too miss the Gigliotti on mountain time and while I love the look of it, I swear it sounds different than the LP and hope Joe does put it back in his rotation.
Great to see the Gigliotti back in the show! Ballad of John Henry now...

What's the tuning for that song Joe?
Ken beat me to that one. Really didn't like the red baritone (str@t) on that song... the Gigliotti is much better.
I think The Ballad Of John Henry is played in Drop C tuning (C-G-C-F-A-D), at least that's what I use when I try to play along. The Gigliotti used to be in Drop D tuning, I guess one of the LP's has taken over that role now.
Oh, I see... I have often thought about how different tunings effect his guitar choice for a given song. He had about seven primary guitars (not including acoustics) for the last show I saw... it really does make sense for any player who performs, to have more than one guitar... Even studying the songs I have- I am using more than one tuning... (err, uh oh)...
