Re: Best Bass Player.............Other Than Cadbury??????

One who goes unnoticed is the late great Gary Thain. It is amazing how many musicians over the years have mentioned his rock solid in the pocket playing through the Keef Hartley/Uriah Heep years as being inspirational. Talk about playing for the song, Gary did that in spades.......

Can you imagine "Easy Livin'" without his walking bass lines???

Roscoe Beck - ex-Robben Ford, playing also excellent bass on" Field Commander (Leonard) Cohen".

Y'all listed most everyone. My personal favorite is George Potsos. He just rejoined Honeytribe with Devon Allman, at least for the rest of this year.

Very unique bassist.

Just helping to spread the word about going to see GOOD bands and GOOD live music as often as possible!!!

+1. used to watch roscoe play every week in the house blues band at Antone's in Austin. Solid player and very creative.

Re: Best Bass Player.............Other Than Cadbury??????

Love Roscoe. I had a chance to see him twice in less than 6 mos. With Robben and then with Eric Johnson.
I also had a chance to see Bx3 last year too. Jeff Berlin, Stu Hamm and Billy Sheehan. Those guys made me look at bass players with a new respect.

Albert Collin's bass man for years.  He put the Texas Funk in blues.  Think Tommy Shannon as a later edition.  My school, the old one!

carmine sorry to say is nothing spectacular on bass.  i mean do you really think he is one of the best or have you just never been to another concert?  jaco is the best from vids i've seen, and eric czar is my favorite going right now and one of the best i am aware of.  his lines were better than carmine on everything ive heard him play, there is a very very noticeable difference.  not to say carmine is bad, he does his job, but doesnt go beyond.  the thing is, czar did the job backing up joe, and did it better, honestly played rock bass better than almost anyone ive ever seen, and then did way more.  have you seen the stuff he has up on youtube or any of his bass solos?  it is unreal.  i'd go so far to say he has reached the level of mastery on bass that joe has on guitar.

victor wooten is amazing too if he has yet to be said.

I agree Eric Czar is talented.

Stevie Wonder, Patti laBelle, David Bowie, Ron Wood, Rod Stewart, Rocco Prestia, Kevin Shirley, Joe Bonamassa, Richard (Crossroads) Stewart and the Funky Dr, to name a few, however, would disagree with you about the Legendary Carmine Rojas.

He is a MUSICIAN.  He is a Master Rock Arranger.  He has made the grade.  He has been my road dog buddy for 35 years.  Have you even been alive that long?  He is a PLAYER.  He is a bridge over troubled waters.

Right you are FDOL, you can add Stevie Salas to the list of Carmine's fan club too. Stevie got the break of a lifetime when Carmine, aka Cadbury as Stevie affectionately refers to him, tapped him to play lead guitar in Bowie's touring band which Carmine was director and arranger which lead to a gig with Mick Jagger's solo projects and Stevie's own solo career that spans the globe, kinda like what BB did for Joe.

I'd say he was, but not so much any more.  Anyone familiar with any of his work outisde of the really big zeppelin hits knows what he's capable of at this point.
